I mean, where does the US get off thinking that it has a special role to play in God's plan?
Be aware before you answer I am an American and an Eastern Orthodox Christian, but I am profoundly anti-nationalistic as I find it contrary to True Christianity.

America is the promised land and very blessed, I have a lot of gratitude for the privilege of living in this country and the freedom it gives me.

The U.S. must play some role in God's plan or we would not have won the Revolutionary War. As a Christian myself, I see nothing contrary to the Bible's teaching regarding patriotism. We are to obey the laws of the land whether we agree with them or not. If we did any less we would be disobeying God. I don't know what YOUR definition of true Christianity is- I believe that God (Jesus) should be the most important thing in my life 1st and foremost. Second comes my country because of the freedom to worship God- try being a Christian in Syria- they'll cut off your head. Third is family- without God or country I may not have the wonderful family that I do. God is related to all these priorities in one way or another. Seeing as how the U.S. is on that list, the U.S. not only has a role in my life but God's plan as well. He wanted me here at this place and time for a reason. The same goes for you.
Have a great day!!!

As Christians, we are all called to be ambassadors of God's love to the world and to spread the gospel to all nations. This doesn't imply forcing beliefs down anyone's throat but rather, availing the gospel to all and allowing the Holy Spirit to move those who realize the need for a changed heart. As to the separation of church and state, that ideal does and should exist. The US does not have an organized state religion, which is what our founding fathers were trying to escape from and prevent fron being imposed on the people. If you'll notice, our melting pot includes a myriad of faiths and, aside from radicals in many of those faiths, a good amount of tolerance. Anyone who is passionate about that in which they believe would of course like to see more people believe in the same way. Imposition of beliefs by force or intimidation is heinous and contrary to what I believe the Bible calls us to do.

Jesus isn't nationalistic either. All of mankind is His interest. True Christianity has nothing to do with nationalism. Truthfully, we ALL have a special role in God's plan. All our roles are different, but all of us are part of the whole picture.

I think it has something to do with we were founded on the ideal of freedom of religious believes. And that most ppl came here to worship Jesus and be christains in any way the wanted to. So I think we feel that we have earned the right to be most important,,

It's just another way that we think our way is the best way,, I don't agree or disagree with that,, I am just saying that's what it seems like "we" americans always feel.

Contrary to the opinion of liberal, ****** democrats, Jesus was born in the USA and appointed George W. to the White House for a reason. So just shut up, get down on your knees and pray or you'll roast in hell forever. I'll pray for you.

What are you talking about? I don't think I've seen any amendment or heard any politicians say what you just said.

The U.S. does have a special role to play in the world because we're properous. Any prosperous person or nation has a duty to help people in the world.

I don't understand this bit of American thinking at all. America is no more special than any other country. OK, it's got more firepower, but that doesn't make it the world's policeman.

Let God go and bless whoever He wants.

jesus loves us all, doesn't he? but all this propaganda about bush being a christian and being god-like makes me puke. in my country, many american mormons use to come to tell us (I'm an orthodox as well) that americans have been chosen by god for some mighty plan of His. how come!?

in one part of the Bible it speaks of an eagle and two towers falling i cant remember what part of the bible it is in and that sounds like what america went through in 2001 so yes i believe americans have a place in Gods plan as long as we continue to remain allies with Jerusalem.
