I have a morotorla i-930 and I like to make my own ringtones for it using a mp3 editor. I want to be able to pick sections out of an mp3 file.

What you need to do is convert those mp3's to Wav files and then on your computer where entertainment is in accessories, you can choose the recorder. Then insert your wav file and you can edit it where you want to and put in what you want to and then click finish and save file to your documents at least that's what I do. Then convert that wav file back to mp3 and tada...your done!!

Audacity is an awesome free program that I've used for this before. It allows you to convert files to Wav format and basic editing like crop parts from it to save as a seperate file. It takes a little while to figure out how to select parts of a song/etc but once you get the hang of it, it's real easy and fast. Click the following link to find a page where you can download it. It's tied with a couple other programs for highest rated free audio editor. http://www.download.com/Audacity/3000-2170_4-10514927.html?tag=lst-6-4

If you aren't concidering price into your option, I use the Sony SoundForge software. The control it allows me to have over a myrad of music formats is great. You can easily convert from one format to another and change the options for a specific format to allow for a faster bitrate, less channels, etc. However, this is a pricey software.

This is shareware...so, not free, but not too expensive either. Handles a bunch of formats, lets you tweak stuff graphically, and is pretty intuitive. They may have a free trial version too, can't remember.........
