If you do get a card in the mail call the company that issued it and tell them that you did not apply for this card and make sure that there are no duplicates that were issued to anyone else. It is possible for someone to apply for a card in your name and then have a duplicate sent to them.

Be very careful--this may be a scam! Never give any personal information (birthday, social security number, account numbers, address, etc.) over the phone unless you are sure you are dealing with a company with which you have an established business relationship. Identity theft is a booming criminal industry. Chances are, if you don't remember applying for credit, the phone call was promotional (like getting junk mail or spam). My advice is to just ignore it. And, if you get an unsolicited credit card in the mail, notify the Better Business Bureau so they can investigate how that company got your information.

It may very well be that the company has a wrong number on file.
