My dog just ate a stick of butter off the kitchen table. I called the vet to see if it was dangerous and the vet gave very good advice- let the dog outside immediatly.

The vet that I worked for had a Bull Mastiff that swallowed a tennis ball, whole and in one gulp. He gave her a dose of mineral oil, while I mentally prepared myself to assist in an emergency surgery on a 130 pound dog the following day....

The dog passed the ball the next morning in one gigantic poop.

I assisted in surgery to remove an intact TVremote control from a lab. The same dog later ate a cell phone.

Our previous dog had a $300 chicken dinner. I didn't put the remnants of a $3 2-piece chicken meal far enough out of her reach, and was awakened at 1am by her licking the crumbs out of the bottom of the box. The drumstick and breast piece that were in there were gone.

Made for some interesting X-rays at the 24-hour emergency clinic, though. =/

Our current dog last night discovered that she likes the spicy hot wings sauce from Domino's - at least she was VERY intent about licking it off my fingers, and she would have dived into the whole supply if I had let her.

I think the strangest thing that my dog ate was some plastic type plates.. I suppose he thought they would be good to eat because they had had food on them. Plastic is not good for a dog but everything passed on OK.. but from then on I was careful to safeguard the plastic picnic plates, etc AFTER we had finished eating.

how much time do you have? *laugh*

We have a 9 mth old Puggle and he has eaten the following since we brought him home:

kleenex (new & used)
rubber toys (chews off pieces of them)
dish towels (chews off pieces)
newspaper
cat poo (we no longer allow him in the litter box room)
cigarette packs
cigarettes (but doesn't like the filters)
various pieces of his rope toys
parts of the dog bed we got for him
parts of the towels we had in his dog crate
loves tomatoes, cucumbers, carrots, any veggies except green beans, yoghart
Tums antacid
we give him green dog biscuits (which turn his poo green) after the initial eating of anything he is not suppose to, so we can watch for the other items

When my dogs (brother and sister border collie/golden retriever mix) were little, we let them sleep in a little room in the basement. Evidentally, they got bored and ATE THE SHEET ROCK off the wall! We would come in to find giant round holes in the walls!

I had a bulldog that loved ice-cream and cantaloupe. The best though was another pet. I had a tomcat that loved corn on the cob. He would spin it fast with his paws and eat the cob clean. It was the funniest thing to watch!

My dog swallowed a AA battery (whole, thank goodness--and passed it without any problem whatsoever)
