I apologise for any words that I mispell.

Anyway, that's my question: Do you think that you have to be Bapitised to be saved?

My uncle, who was my late father's twin, was Bapitised when he was 20-something, and is a very religious person, and we discussed many things about a month ago, and he told me that in his beliefs, you do not have to be Bapitised, you just have to accept the Jesus as your personal Lord and saviour, and ask for forgiveness to be saved.

My father, who died in December 2003, was not Bapitised, but believed in God, a heavily amount, and I know he had went to Heaven, because he accepted Jesus as his personal Lord and saviour and asked for forgiveness.

I'm just looking for some thoughts?

According to the Bible, Jesus said you have to admit you are a sinner, accept Jesus as your Savior, repent of your sins, be baptized, and change your way of living. Jesus was baptized with a full immersion into the water, just as John the Baptist preached. The reason for a full immersion is to wash your whole body to cleanse it from sin, so you will be pure again.

Baptized to me is showing your walk in that religion is a true on. You have excepted the doctrine of the church and you are going to live your life accordingly.
Being saved is the outward expression to the world the you believe in Jesus Christ as your savior and that he died for your sins. You were born of the water first in your mothers womb. Second you have made a decision to except the lord and now you show the world what your decision is by being born again of the water in the new you. You are showing the world that you are washing away the old and bringing in the new. This is a wonderful thing!!....Remember this many people are saved each and everyday on their death beds just because they did not get baptized does not make them any less saved.

This is a very personal question and everyone will have a different answer. In my believes and in my heart we each have our own realationship with our higher power/god. Only you and your god knows what's truely in your heart. And if you have accepted god or Jesus into your heart,, if you are truely repentant of your sins , if you truely want to live a good life where you respect others and do the best you know how to do. Then I think that you can go to heaven.

I also think that when it's all said and done,, and it's judgment day we are all going to be very surprised at what was important and what wasn't. I mean seriously does it matter what you where to church? or if your church is a Millon dollar building or the basement of hte high school??? I really don't think so.

Hope this brings some thoughts for you!!!

You don't have to be baptized to go to heaven. Baptism is a special ceremony that people do to show others that they have become a christian and left the old self behind. That is why most churches will baptize by dunking a person into the water. When you go under it signifies the death of you old self and being reborn in Christ. The only religion that believes that you need baptized to go to heaven is Catholics but they also don't really believe in salvation. They believe that if you die you can be prayed into heaven by your loved ones that are left behind. Don't worry when you get to heaven your dad will be waiting for you.

I went to a Baptist Christian school from pre-K to 12th. They were big on being Baptised. Being Baptised is just a public notification to people that you are commiting your life to God. If you accept Him into your heart, and ask him to be your Lord and Saviour, then Heaven is the next step for you afterthis life.

My mother passed 5 years ago, she was never Baptised, but believed in God, and had asked him to be her Lord & Saviour. I know in my heart she is in Heaven.

No, you don't have to be baptised to be saved.
It is an outward proclamation of your faith, symbolizing death of the old self and rebirth of the new person that you are with Christ in your life. I was baptized when I was a baby (raised Catholic).
However, after several years of being away from any church and and God, when I became a Christian 6 years ago I chose to be baptized. It was so different :) This was MY choice. I made the conscious decision to do this.
Don't worry. Your dad is dancing with God in Heaven :)

jesus said, not everyone saying lord lord, would enter into the kingdom with him. he also said that many will ask, didn't i do this or that in your name? and he will have to admit, he knows nothing of them. im paraphrasing of course, but these two instances serve to show that the basic idea of accepting jesus as your savior is totally useless without really following what he told us to do. its very obvious, people do this because they are lazy, and don't want to take responsibility for themselves. everyone loves to say, oh, i just do whats right in my heart, and i'll be fine, but this is crazy, since the morals of the world change too often. you can't just do what you want, some of us would naturally think there was nothing wrong with killing or various other wrongs.

Jesus said that unless a person be born of water and the spirit, he cannot have eternal life. Catholics see this as the sacrament of Baptism.

Jesus also sent out His disciples to baptize everyone in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. To be a follower of Jesus is to do as He commands and He commanded baptism.

Catholics understand that baptism is not always possible. We recognize something called baptism of desire. If a person believes in God and understanding the need for baptism, desires to be baptized, but is prevented from doing so, such as the good theif on the cross, the desire is good enough.

As regards you father, if he did not understand the necessity of baptism, he will not be held accountable for his lack of knowledge. Also, while Jesus commanded that all be baptized, He is not restricted by His commands and He can welcome whoever He wants into heaven.

Pray for the peaceful rest of your father's soul.

Contact me if you wish to discuss this further.

You need to be baptised,, but that is receiving the holy spirit, which comes to all believers.. As far as some physical water being placed on you No...It is an outward sign, which is good to partake in,,but its not necessary.. Just remember the guy crucified next to Jesus, was not baptised, and Jesus told him that today he would be in paradise...Of course he could have been , but Jesus would have asked him first b4 making that claim...

As a Lutheran you don't
need to be Baptized into Christ to be saved and cleansed with water. (at least I dont think so.) In Holy Communion we take in the Body of our Lord Jesus Christ- we are blessed and forgiven. Our Pastor says "The Body of our Lord Jesus Christ streghten you and grant you Peace, in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit." So what I get our of it is that I am blessed, sins forgiven.
Have you ever heard of the hymn "Go my Children with my Blessing?" That explains it a little bit.

Hope this helps.
