Some say by using an anti-Gas mask or get in to shower or run away from the wind direction!

But according to military experts, you just hear the noise of aircraft and the gas itself is colourless!
How would you know the aircraft is going to use the chemical bomb , your first reaction w’d be to run to the underground shelter and you can’t close the door while others want to come in.
So how about children who play in the yards or in the school or women who are busy doing a house work ?
They say the entire population of one small Kurdish city died in less than 10 minutes !!!

Yes, the entire population in a Kurdish village called Hallabja did die in less than 10 mins from Nerve Gas. I know this as i have seen the news video clips of the aftermath and it wasnt prety.

You could run up wind from a chemical attack asuming you knew that one had taken place, it also depends on how fast you can run, one could take place 50 miles away up wind from you and you might not know it had happened, if this was the case the first you would know of it would be by the signs and symptoms you would have. If it was something such as Nerve agent you might notice, Pinpointed pupils, Runny Nose, Tightness of the chest, Sudden Headache, Excessive sweating, nausua, involintatry urination and defication, muscle twitching and jerking followed by death. This could all happen in a matter of a few moments depending on the dose you got. There is loads of web sights out there that explain what all the signes and symptoms are, i have looked at them.

If you are in the military then you have your Respirator ( Gas Mask) and Chemical Biological Radiological and Nuclear protective suite.

As someone else said you need to put your Respirator on within 9 Seconds to stand a chance of survival. This the british military can do with great ease as it is a drill they practise quite a lot.

The gas is colourless but may not be odourless, it may smell of things almonds and anything strange or suspicious not normally in your area, this doesnt mean A builder using glue of a farmer spreading muck etc.

You would be wasting you time trying to get in the shower you problably would'nt make it on time, even if you did the chemical would have vapours as well as liquid.

have alook at this it may give some information

To be perfectly honest, there is no fool-proof way to protect yourself completely from a chemical attack. There are so many delivery systems these days that you can't even rely on watching for low-flying aircraft dropping chemical bombs. The military has many different ways to detect whether an area has been contaminated by a chemical or biological agent, but that usually means you've already been exposed.

Sorry, I know that's not the answer anyone wanted to hear. Our military has been put through very specific training to respond to a chemical or biological threat, so they technically stand a better chance of survival over regular civilians.

All we can do is refuse to live in fear. If it's our time, then it's our time. Make the most of what you have today.

Hope that helps, even though it's not really positive.

Genghis has by far the best answer - if you are military and in a war zone.

If as I suspect that you are a civvy, you are not likely to be in that situation. You're only likely to be a victim of terrorism and as such any agents would not be delivered by air attack, but released in an enclosed space (on the tube etc as in Japan with Sarin).

Your best bet is to try and move away from the immediate area and into fresh air and then wait for the emergency services who will be able to decontaminate you and give you any anti-dote that may be available. Do not just run away as you could just be spreading the agent to other people - especially if it is a biological one.

If by chance an air attack by terrorists did occur, the best thing you can do is stay indoors and close all windows and doors. As it would be an improvised device the agent would probably be in an aerosol form (fine mist) and just getting under cover would help your chances of survival. Most of agents are only effective for a short period of time and they are diluted by the wind and some are destroyed by the ambient moisture in the air.

Any chemical or biological weapon is very hard to make and deliver effectively - I would not worry too much you are more likely to get hit by a bus!

If you have an NBC (Nuclear Biological Chemical) Suit, then due to intelligence, you'll probably be wearing most of it when the enemy attacks. If not, then there's not much chance of survival. If you are wearing it, you'll most likely be in Dress Category 4, Which means that all of your skin is covered, except your face. You'll notice a chemical attack/gas attack as a plane may fly in low, as if cropdusting, or a rocket may hit, but no big bang (from the explosives). If you spot this, you will put on your mask, shout Gas Gas Gas (within 9 seconds of spotting attack or hearing alarm) to alert others and then get to safety. At this point, you will decontaminate your exposed skin parts (in this case, your head). This removes all conamimants from your skin. You can survive in an NBC suit. If not, you're screwed. Kids/ civilians have no such defence, unless there are NBC shelters for civilians, then, maybe.

You can smell nerve gas. It smells like bitter almonds. A good sign to mask up.

1. We treated them wrong no doubt but its nowhere near a concentration camp. 2. Every race has been a slave and been a slave owner at some point. 3. Where did you hear that? 4. Thats how wars were fought back before smart bombs although we are the only ones to nuke someone. Everybody did it. 5. See #4 6. Where did you hear that? 7. Everybody else had the same info we did about Iraq. Saddam was way worse for Iraqi's than anything we have done. He killed hundreds of thousands of his own people. Suicide bombers are the ones doing that now not the US. Thinking - Thats a great point of view. Sorta like all the illegals here that force us to learn their language.

With every day pass, our country is getting into more and more trouble. The inflation, unemployment and falling value of dollar are the main concern for our Government but authorities are just sleeping, they don’t want to face the fact. Media is also involve in it, they are force to stop showing the real economic situation to the people. I start getting more concern about my future as well as my family after watching the response of our Government for the people that affected by hurricane Katrina.

According to recent studies made by World Bank, the coming crisis will be far worse than initially predicted. So if you're already preparing for the crisis (or haven't started yet) make sure you watch this video at http://www.familysurvival.tv and discover the 4 BIG issues you'll have to deal with when the crisis hits, and how to solve them fast (before the disaster strikes your town!) without spending $1,000s on overrated items and useless survival books.

You would need to be wearing a Chemically protective suit and have your respirator (Gas Mask ) ready.
Military personnel wear their suits when Chemical threat levels reach a certain level (remember Gulf War 2?) and have to be able to put on the respirator within 9 seconds of an attack.
An attack is deemed to be taking place when certain conditions are occuring - one of them being to see a low flying enemy aircraft - there are many others though!

If you are ever subject to this type of weapon in an urban environment ....... your stuffed.

Without P.P.E ( PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT )

There are different types of weapon , designed to burn , blister , suffocate , initiate a chain reaction to stop you breathing by making you drown in your own body fluid and generally f **** up your day. You could buy an NBC Suite , resperator etc etc , but unless you wore it all the time you would also be stuffed ...... soory mate !!! + you would look pretty stupid walking down the high street. M ybest advice to you if you knew it was a chemicle attack and Death was imminent is .... Grab the first pretty lady who walkes past and give her a great big snog ..... then wait for it . Hope this helps ?

Get yourself an NBC (Nuclear Biological Chemical) suit and dont take it off ever. Failing that quit worrying about things that are out of your control and get on with your life

It's simple...for the American citizens...you don't. If a massive Chemical/Biological weapon was detonated in the US millions would die. There is currently no protection for it. The military has antropean (sp?) injectors for service members but it is not to make you live, it only sustains you long enough to complete your mission.
