Well, it's up to you. You can find a recipe in a cook book or on line and make it from scratch or you can buy a cake mix and canned icing and make it that way.
There are many good recipes that are easy and do not require cake flour. You can make them with ingredients that you probably already have in your pantry.

I think that this is in the wrong catagory unless you want the answer that you should pray for God to give you the ability to make a cake. Otherwise google cake recipes and see what you find that you like.

Go to the bakery and instead of making the cake yourself buy it yourself, family ask me if I make the cake I say " I bought it myself"

use your cake mixer and mix your sugar and butter untill fluffy
then to the mixture,add your milk,egg,nutmeg,flavour
then put baking powder at last.
mix all together and put in a pan.
bake in an oven with low temperation for 45min.and whoops the cake is ready

Go buy the Betty Crocker Devil's food mix. It's awesome. I'm a big cooker but not much for baking. Good luck. You can't really mess it up, though.
