Hi
Sorry you've got the blues.
Things like diet and exercise can help as well as herbal remedies such as St. John's Wort.
If you're lonely then now's the time of year when lots of new courses are starting at colleges/nightschool where you could do something you already like or try something new.
It might also be worth going to have a chat with your doctor too - there's nothing wrong with medication to treat illness.
Good luck.

here's my list of must do's when I am feeling down.
Go outside
color in a coloring book
blow bubbles and wish away your worries with each bubble
watch cartoons or a childs movie that will make you laugh
go to the toy store
pet a dog or cat,, if you don't have one,, you can go to the shelter and visit with a stray.
write a letter to someone you miss
make a collage of things that make you smile
eat a ice cream cone in the park
buy a orange and either eat it or just cut it open and let the smell carry you away.
but some sun tan oil on your wrists and dream of a tropical vacation
buy some fresh flowers
get online and find some support groups or common intrest groups.
go for a walk,
go to the lake, pond, beach ect, and throw rocks into the water as hard as you can to get out the frustration of what's making you sad.
OK OK that's about all of my tricks good luck

Treat yourself to something that you want. I dont mean expensive. Then go out and meet some new ppl. I know that sounds hard, but its not. Get involved with community activities, anything that you have the slightest interest in. Life is a gift, It wont always appear as such. But your life is a beautiful thing, that you have been blessed with. I'm not a religious type, but life is a gift. Do what You can to enjoy it!

I'm currently listening to a Buddy Guy CD. I downloaded some free blues music from a website I mentioned in one of my other posts. (probably a best answer). Try some Eric Clapton as well....
You can't beat the blues, it's great!

Probably connected with loneliness - Get out there and socialize, let people see the life in you and don't be ashamed of it, put 'happy' music on not depressing music, and maybe chat your blues thru with a friend. Perhaps you'll soon find your blues are changing into another brighter colour. F.W.z

Write a list of all the good things in your life!
Go out with your mates and have a real good night! Make loadsa memories, take photos then next time you are feeling blue you have the photos to cheer you up!
Or stick on some great 80s pop and sing and dance all around the house (providing nobodies in!!) it will make you feel real good. I sing on my way to work and helps me get through the day.
HAVE FUN!!

Great answer by katypops! Also, have you thought about doing some thought therapy on the net? Moodgym is a free to access site offering an introduction to CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy). This can help you to break negative cycles of thought.
Good luck.

yeah I'm feeling a little like that myself too. Try and talk to people about it and get out and about to take your mind off things. Try and feel grateful for what you've got(even though sometimes thats difficult i know) and try and exercise(even if its just a walk or something)Take some time out for yourself, have a nice bath with some candles, chill out to some nice music, treat yourself for a couple of hours doing something you want to do. I think that will help. Good luck!

The absolute best way is to go out and help others, whether by volunteering or whatever. I'm not just saying this as some theoretical thing - when I worked in prison we used to assign suicidal/depressed prisoner to look after all the fish in the fishtanks. It really took them out of themselves and stopped them focussing too much on their own problems.
If you go and look after a pensioner for a couple of hours a week it REALLY will help you.

Omega 3 oil helps a lot.
I also recommend to join organizations where you will be exposed to people and ideas:
1. Chambers of commerce
2. Charities (http://www.justgive.org)
3. Business organizations
4. Local community center
5. Churches
6. Support groups
7. Online discussion groups
8. Services for singles (if you are single)
