Sorry to hear that. I am a big caddy lover. With just liability I don't think the insurance is going to cover it. Depending on the state it was insured in. And, if they did he would only get what book value is on the vehicle. I'm assuming he never had the vehicle appraised due to the fact that there was no theft coverage on it. I can only suggest that he speak with his insurance company. They certainly know what is covered on the vehicle.

Your auto insurance will not pay because you did not purchase Comprehensive coverage, which is what covers theft of a vehicle.
Your homeowner's insurance will not pay because no homeowner's policy covers motor vehicles, with the exception of lawn mowers or farm equipment in some cases.
I'm afraid if it was that important to you, you should have properly insured it because as it stands, you have no coverage that will pay for it. I hope the police find it for you.

Normally if you have liability only it does not cover theft. Talk to your insurance company to see if the car have theft coverage. If not then check with your home owners insurance, some companies will cover it if it was parked at you house.

probably not, unless he had it registered as an antique or classic. The insurance companies try very hard not to pay money out...

That's a shame! You have to have comprehensive for it to cover the theft under your insurance. Also, homeowner's will not cover it.

you should always have thief on any car just in case but did you report it to the police you will have to watch for there auctions cause if they find it they may auction it off instead of returning it to you, you may have to buy back your own car they are all crooks I think!
