Teach - what a question! Marzipan is totally foul and why it is in traditional wedding and christmas cakes is beyond me.
A mate of mine is a an ex-bodyguard and provides info (amongst many things) on how to detect postal bombs - apparently some of them smell of marzipan! Learn something everyday!

I once bought five packs of pure marzipan after three days of fasting. God, I love marzipan! And I could because I was hungry.

I adore Marzipan and moulding the paste into different shapes like fruits.
My father got me into it about 25 years ago and since then have had it in german chocolate, german cakes and biscuits.
It is healthy because it has almond puree in them.

It's cute to lok at and work with, but it's impossible for me to bring myself to eat it. WAAAY to sickly-sweet!

I don't mind it on wedding cakes and stuff, but too much especially on its own is too sickly
