Ran into a friend a few days ago that I hadn't seen in a few years. His engagement was recently broken off. He said now that he's ready to date he can't find one, but the second he's off the market girls seem to be interested. I have no clue why this is, do you?

because deep down people are just bad and they think that if they mess with you while you are in a relationship they dont gotta buy the cow just drop in for a milkshake. my milkshake is better than YOURS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That one's easy. It's because people who are in a committed relationship clearly show that they can handle responsibility and have a commited relationship. They appear more mature. If you have failed at your relationship, you show that maybe you weren't as mature as you seemed :) It's a cruel world, but that's also the reason why guys with kids are more attractive to women who want a family than single guys who just go from girl to girl. What you can't have is always more appealing than what you can have.
There's also the fact that nothing is more unattractive than desperation. When you're not looking, you're as far from desperation as you can get. You come across as more confident, and there is absolutely no pressure. It's also easier to talk to someone and have fun with them because you're not worried that they're judging you so critically - like you would a date.

People can feel the energy around you and want to be close to it. Being in a relationship is good for the soul and the resultant energy is very attractive.
