There's a product called Ovide that your pediatrician can prescribe that works WONDERFULLY!!! It smells horrible and you have to be VERY careful when you use this on your children b/c it can hurt their eyes; but it works. Make sure after you use the product, you wash their bedding in hot water with bleach. Otherwise, just toss it. Then spray their matresses and anything else their hair touches with the lice spray. Flea and tick killer works on ANIMALS that can get lice as well. Have you checked to see if you have it? You probably do. And make sure you use the Ovide again in about 2 weeks. Any missed nits(lice eggs) will have hatched by then. Good luck!

Roby Comb is a life saver! I too battles my daughters recurring lice for about two months until I discovered the comb at WalMart. You turn it on and run it through the childs hair. Its zaps and kills all lice and they stick to the comb. No joke. Very quickly all lice wil be gone and will not return. Don't forget to bag all the childrens stuffed animals for about two weeks also.

A very simple and effective way is to shave your head. It is also a very good look.
All of us who have answered 'shave your head' have been getting thumbs down. I am serious, the question was asked, and it will resolve the problem. Shaved heads are very well accepted and it is very comfortable. Plus, in most cases it will grow back, especially if the girls are 5 and 3. Much better than head lice, believe me.

Oh my. My mother runs a daycare so I asked her. I'm itchy thinking about this. I live in Canada so I don't know if you'd have this product but it's called NIX and you shampoo it into the hair. The very important thing is to get a good nit comb and comb out every single nit or they'll hatch. 5 days after the first application, shampoo in another and check for nits. If your daughters have a lot of hair it may have to be cut short to get control of this. The whole house needs to be washed..anything with material needs to be washed and dried in the dryer..mattresses vacuumed well...furniture cleaned with upholstery cleaner. If this isnt done, they'll get back into your hair . My Mom says they will get so bad that hair sometimes need to be shaved off..hmmm..well worth cleaning every inch of the house and doing the hair treatment as mentioned. Good luck..* so itchy now*

Um I herd that you can use Head & Sholders works, but I have never had to try it!. I know when my brother got it when he was little they made us use baby oil in his hair but then you have to go and use a lice comb and get all the eggs out!!! you cant for get about stuffed animals you can put them in a Garbage bag see if that kills the ones on the stuffed animals. you might want to use the baby oil on your 3 year old. but if you have animals they could just be flees!!!

Their pediatrician may have a prescription strength shampoo that will get rid of them. I have heard using vinegar when combing the hair loosens the nits from the hair shaft.

Once you have deloused their heads, start using a shampoo with TeaTree oil in it. Lice don't like Tea Tree oil.
