When dogs have allergies, it frequently manifests itself in the paws. They lick and chew until they get raw. You can try over-the-counter Benadryl, or take her to the vet for treatment.

That could be a symptom of anxiety. My dog didn't chew her paw, but she used to lick this one spot raw, it developed a lump of scar tissue. The vet gave us something to break down the lump and told us that nervous habits like that never go totally away. Well he was wrong! We just kept telling her 'off' (that's her don't touch that word) every time she went for her paw and eventually she got it.
You might also consider that she could be allergic to something, even a flea bite that happened a while ago. I would try taking her to a vet and see what they say, but like in my story, their not right about everything.

I would definitly make an appointment with the veterinarian. She could have allergies. Allergies in dogs are much different than in people. They become itchy and uncomfortable. It is common for a dog with allergies to lick and chew excessively at there paws, legs, faces, rear ends...
I'm not sure if foxtails are common to your area, but that is another possiblity. They are sharp little weeds that are barbed so that once they get stuck they can't be pulled straight out. They dig deeper and deeper. Dogs can get them everywhere...eyes, ears, gums, rears, and especially feet.
I wouldn't wait any longer. If she's limping there must be something going on. Good luck!

I would take her to the vet. If everything checks out and she's fine, but still chewing on her paw, she might be teething, get her a chew toy and everytime she chews, take her mouth off her paw and give her the toy. If that doesn't work (like my dog) then go to your local pet store and buy this stuff called sour apple spray or something similar and spray it on her paw. The taste is so awful (you can ask my husband hee hee) that she won't touch it.

things like licking paws or legs might have to do with one of a few things and my dog had 2. Dry, itchy, iritated skin, which is why my dog licked fur off of spots on her legs, so I started using and oatmeal shampoo, which helped, but the spots needed more help and I got this spray made by HyLyt which is a bath oil. After bathing spray it on the affected area, and at night before bed, to keep her from possibly licking it off. She might have a skin infection, which means you have to go to the vet and have a skin scraping done to test weather or not. last but not least, she may be stressed and is trying to release anxiety. My dig would lick between the two middle toes on both her front paws and even nearly licked a bottom pad off of her foot. Recall how the past few weeks have been, unless you just got her then how has the "atmosphere" been since you got her? Are you yelling a lot, violently punishing, saying no constantly and hardly praising, do you ignore her, are you gone a lot. I am a loud person so I had to reduce the ammount of loudness that came out of my mouth and tone it down so my dog didn't think I was yelling at her, I was losing my patience with her so I was punishing a lot and forgot to praise her when she played with her toys on her own, or chose her bone over the leg of a table. Is there a lot of aguing that goes on between you and another person in your house? Dogs are very psycholigically delicate animals and it's easy to mess them up a little from time to time. Don't feel bad if this is the case, just get your training book if you have one or buy one and read it, and keep it as a reference. I train dogs for myself family and friends and I still have to go back to see if i'm forgetting something. If you need help or have any questions for me you can contact me by clicking on my name under my pic, then click on contact next to my pic. GOOD LUCK!

It sounds as though your puppy may have allergies, it is common to see dogs with that problem chewing on there paws. I would suggest you take her to the vet, they can give you some prednisone type medicine and after a couple days she will be feeling better. until then you could give her a small dose of benadryl depending on her weight I wouldn't give more that a quarter of a teaspoon for under 15 pounds.

This is something ur vet will need to check. She could possibly have a grass seed in her paw, or maybe a skin irritation. Place on a sock and some tape around the top of it so she cant make it any worse and get in asap to see ur vet.

This is most definitely in need of a trip to the vet.
She has something going on that should not be treated by covering it with gauze or socks.
This may be an allergic reaction or an injury, as both would cause the same reaction from the dog.
Please take her to see a good veterinarian, soon.

First, you have to identify the problem and the only way to do that is a visit to the Vet, especially if the little baby is starting to limp. Don't mess with what you don't know. Good luck

I would have to agree with the first person who said "take her to the vet". The dog may have some kind of a skin issue that antibiotics can get rid of, but only a vet would know for sure.
