NO!!! Women should NEVER eat less than 1,500 calories per day unless they are very tiny individuals and weigh less than 100 pounds. If you eat too little your body goes into starvation mode. When that happens, your body greedily hangs on to every last bit of body fat that you have and starts burning the body tissue that takes the most energy to maintain, which is muscle. Many people eat that little thinking they'll lose weight without realizing that they're doing more harm than good.

I'm afraid it's difficult to answer your question without knowing what you eat, what your weight is, and if you're doing this deliberately to loose weight or just can't stand to eat more. People can subsist on 1200 calories a day, especially if they're not very active. There can be some long term side effects (both mental and physical/gastrointestinal), so I don't recommend you do it for long. On the other hand, there are benefits to therapeudic fasting - many health experts recommend to fast once a year for 3-10 days. Check out the "lemonade diet" or "master cleanse" by doctor Stanley Burroughs. You can get all the vitamins and energy you need from a solution of water, lemon juice, maple syrup and a few drops of cayenne pepper during the day and a solution of sea salt and water in the morning.

Actually, some physicians would place an obese diabetic on a 800 calorie a day diet, to jump start weight loss. But the general rule of thumb is to keep it at 1200. Since that is efficient enough calories to loose weight, as long as you are exercising. But calorie diets and what is best for you depend on age, weight, and Body Mass Index (body fat) Really, the key to weight loss is exercise. As long as you are eating a sensible well balanced healthy diet, you can eat most anything--but you have to exercise at least 45 minutes per day 5 days a week.

No, it's not. Even if you are dieting 1,200 calories per day is the recommended minimum amount for losing weight. If you are just looking to maintain your current weight, you should not eat less than 1,500 calories per day. HTH.

No.

You shouldnt eat less than 1500. Any less your metabolism will slow down and start to store all the food you eat as your body thinks it is not getting enough energy.
