I would suggest that you try talking with him to find out specifically what his problem with you is and then work together to find a solution to that problem that works for both of you. If he is completely unwilling to work or talk with you, I'm afraid there isn't a lot that you can do. If he continues to leave his lawnmower and leaf blower sitting next to your fence, you may be able to involve the police. This can be considered the same as loud music. Perhaps if the police talk with him he will at least stop with the lawn equipment, that won't necessarily mend your relationship with your neighbor but will give you peace and quiet.

Sometimes, if there was an amicable friendship before, ...maybe an invitation to dinner, or bake some cookies and all go over...and tell him his friendship means a lot...and ask him why he has taken this turn against you? If he is nasty about it..then go home, calmly...treat him with respect, even though he does not treat you guys the same way..and if he does have mental problems...then you might try to understand and ignore his behaviour

Best thing to do is just let him be. Maybe he lost someone and that's his way of copeing with it by lashing out at everybody. I'm pretty sure you and your family and friends didn't do anything to piss him off or the such, then he probably would've had reason to do so. As long as he doesn't hurt you, your family and your dog, just try to ignore him. If you're curious, ask him. He'll probably just pout, grimace and walk back inside. Keep on asking till he gives.

Invite him over for lunch or somethging. Maybe even have a party in his honor. That ought to either turn him completely around or at least ease the problem. Unless, of course, he is a real nut-case, in which case you might need to have 'Guido and the boys' pay him a visit.

Keep your dog quiet and he won't let his lawnmower run to annoy you. Do you know how aggravating it can get when someone lets their dog bark and bark? It's kind of inconsiderate

It isn't like he is breaking a law. There isn't much you can do.
