It's sad when someone who claims to respect the bible actually insults a peaceful Christian preacher. Sad but completely expected.

(2 Timothy 4:3-5) For there will be a period of time when they will not put up with the healthful teaching... You, though, keep your senses in all things, suffer evil, do the work of an evangelizer, fully accomplish your ministry.

Really, if someone goes out of their way to disregard Christian preachers and preaching, what is he saying about himself?

(Luke 10:1-17) After these things the Lord designated seventy others and sent them forth by twos... “He that listens to you listens to me too. And he that disregards you disregards me too. Moreover, he that disregards me disregards also him that sent me forth.”

When people come to my house to witness I am polite, but firm. I tell them I have my own religion and thank them for their time. If they are persistant, then I can get a little rude, as I believe that my house is my domain and people need to respect my wishes here. I understand the whole witness thing, but don't agree with it. And I truely don't like having anything shoved down my throat.

I try to explain (in a friendly way) my view of their situation.

In a nutshell, they have agreed to work for their church maybe a half day (4 hours) per week for free. And that work is called Witnessing. Because they (no doubt) also have a paying job somewhere, they also agree to give to the church some of the money they earn there (say 10%) for the priviledge of being members (of the church) in good standing. And by good standing, I mean being willing to Witness (which is to work for free to find new people who will be willing to do the same thing), and being willing to pay the church (10%? of their income) for the priviledge to do this.

Now for the big question. Is that a good deal? Absolutely. Err, for the church.

i am polite. I am exmormon exchristian atheist, so I do understand the nature of religious belief. I understand that these people actually believe that they are in the business of saving souls. They really do believe in a heaven and want me to be converted.
I dont debate with them, I dont tell them I am an atheist unless they are pushy.
I politely say "No thank you" and they respect that and leave.
At most times they are either Jehovah witnesses or Mormons.

I'm polite, but in this home we don't accept solicitation of any kind so they are requested to leave my property. When someone comes to my door to witness - that is definitely solicitation even if you really believe everyone else should conform to your method of worship by going door to door in attempt to convert the general population.

I just tell them I'm not interested and shut the door. I don't know if that's considered polite, or rude, but I really don't care either. I consider it rude to go knocking on the doors of strangers trying to sell them religious crap.

I have been known to be both. Depends on whether they show up at 7:30 a.m on a Saturday or not (lol). I wear contacts and if I have been sleeping...awakened, can't see, and expected to answer the door in my pajamas, hair plastered to my head, morning breath, and no make-up...well, I can be quite grumpy. Most of the time I am very willing to talk with them especially if they are Mormon or Jehovah's Witnesses.

Usually, I'm polite. There's really no point in being rude to anyone.
These people are not put off by rude behavior, by the way. They're taught to expect it. When you are rude to them, you only strengthen their belief...
