Maybe if all our cold drinks were alcohol and we developed alcoholism and cirrhosis as a result.
Otherwise, I can't see how a cold drink can be harmful.

The temperature of the drink doesn't dictate whether it's harmful. Actually, they say drinking cold water is better for you when you're overheated because it absorbs into the body more quickly than warmer water. What determines whether a drink is harmful is what's in it. If it has alcohol in it, it can be beneficial in moderation but can be VERY harmful if abused. If it contains high fructose corn syrup (soft drinks) it is loaded with the father of all dietary evil -- drinking even one a day can make you overweight and cause Type II adult-onset diabetes. If it's 100% fruit juice, it's beneficial. If it's purefied water, it's VERY good for you. If it's milk, it can be very good for you but only if it's less than 1% milkfat. Does that help?

If the climate is very hot and then naturally we feel like taking a cold drink. When we do take it there is a sudden change in body temperature and that could be harmful. This is pretty much the same way in which a fever is caused.

no way, actually by drinking ice water instead of tepid water, you will actually burn an extra three pounds per year. the only way that drinking something cold can harm you is if you are consuming a substance that is toxic or may damage your liver, kidneys

I don't really think so. What I do know is that it takes more calories for your body to heat up the cold liquid so it can use it
