She is most likely allergic to pet hair and dander.
Poodles, and cockapoos are the best dogs in terms of the least amount of shedding and dander.

Ah I highly suggest allergy shots or an allergy pill. When I was younger I was so allergic to dogs I actually had several trips to the hospital, but since I ADORE them I knew I had to find a way of living with them. I took allergy shots compined with allergy pills for two years and was almost symptom free while living with two labs and a mutt that looked like a cross between a rat and a goldfish. They got very expensive (900$+) but my mom was paying for it and it was definately worth it.
When I moved out and had to watch my budget I started taking allergy pills instead, and they also work well. I again can't go around large groups of dogs with a lot of dander but I now have a Chihuahua (smooth coat) who has given me NO allergy problems. She has very little dander and not a whole lot to shed :)
Allergy shots:
pros- you will signifigantly reduce your reaction to the allergin. More so than with pills or any other method.
cons-they can get expensive and are not a short term solution, they make take up to 6 months before you see an improvement. They take up a lot of time because after your shot they will make you wait about a half hour to make sure you dont have a severe reaction.
Pills:
pro: they are inexpensive, and for most people will also make their allergin much more berable. They dont interrupt a busy schedule.
cons: they may not be as strong as the shots. A lot of people may feel sleepy when taking them.
I know there is a book out there that lists all the low dander dogs. I hear good things about yorkies, schnauzers, bichons, and my fave smooth coat Chi's! My other ideas are get a good air filter for your bedroom, not a crappy sharper image one or something (most doctors will tell you those gimmicky ones don't work, especially those electrostatic ones or whatever), and try going to www.allergybuyersclub.com . Try to get hypoallergenic materials for your bed such as silk sheets.
If your wife is allergic to one kind of dog she will be allergic to them all. There is no such thing as a true hypoallergenic dog because we are allergic to their proteins which is in their saliva, hairs, dander, tears, etc... However somedogs have much less dander because they have true hairs like humans instead of fur. Others are just small so the quantity of dander will be much less.
Well good luck I hope this really helps. It sucks being allergic to something you can't live without!

I have dog allergies and we got a maltese. They are considered more "hypoallergenic" as well (like poodles). They do not shed and my allergies don't act up. I bathe him often as well. However, if your wife is allergic to dogs for something other than their fur, then it might be difficult. The only bummer is that I'm also allergic to grass, so when he goes and plays outside in the grass, then my allergies act up around him.

When you select a dog.....get
Air purifiers....the ones highly advertized on TV work very well to remove pet dander from the house.
I would also reccomend keeping the dog outdoors if possible.
Your wife may also want to try using a "Primatine Mist" inhaler whenever her throat feels closed up. It is not addictive, and it will help.

nicely first of all NO MUTTS. would not count in the event that they're crossed with poodle. there are lots of poodle mixes sitting in rescues and shelters because of the fact they shed a typhoon -ALL canines shed. ALL. some under others, yet all of them shed -ALL canines have fur and its called a coat. different textures confident yet on the small scale of chemical makeup there is not any difference. -Your husband and daughter are allergic to dander, saliva, and/or urine and what those animals are bringing interior of their coats. it somewhat is impossible to discover a canine good on your place -ALL canines have the flair to reason an allergic reaction finding on how extreme the hypersensitive reactions are. in the event that they're undesirable, then bypass the canine, its no longer honest to them to probably unfastened their abode because of the fact of undesirable making plans So look up low dander breeds and look into getting person. there have been situations the place each physique is starting to be allergic to their puppy as quickly as the person coat is provided in. And returned NO MUTTS.

I have allergies really bad and i had to get rid of my dogs but i turned around and got a yorkshire terrier and havent had any problems, but its gonna take work to wash them everyday because of their pretty hair, but your best bet is to have an outside dog and leave them outside at all times or just deal with the fact that you cant have pets. I know it may suck, but im sure your wife's health is more important, ya know..

I can't tell you what horrible allergies my family and I have. We have a miniature poodle, and a miniature schnauzer. They do not seem to affect our allergies at all. When we go to the homes of people with other types of dog, our allergies act up. I bathe them every two weeks, and keep them groomed short. Maybe that's why.

why would you get a dog if she is allergic to them.... if you must, find out what is the cause of her allergy, if it is the fur, find one that does not shed much; cockapoos shed very little, if it is something else that can be solved by not having them lay near things she may lay on or washing things constantly or cleaning a lot.... check into that.... contact an allergist also

Most dogs suggest that you feed them and rub their tummies. The biggest problem , I have found, is getting them to say anything--let alone asking them their opinions.
But seriously. Get a dog that can sing and they can do duets.
Like a dog and pony show!
