shampoos and dips are effective at the time of shampooing however they dont provide long term cover. Once the dog goes back into the environment the fleas can jump back on. Go to the vet and purchase Frontline liquid spot on...it lasts a minimum of 30 days and is waterproof (safe for pups 2) Also wash all their bedding and u can also purchase a frontline spray if u need to spary carpet, couches, kennels or bedding.

Gold shampoo. Found at Wal-Mart.
Keep it on them for 5 minutes and wash off. Kills fleas and ticks right then and there. Works for my cocker spaniel.
Smells almost like baby powder.

Usually you will need to do this once a week. But I love the shampoo.

Harts... No.... Their stuff is awful Does not work at all!!! I do not like their brand of anything except for their raw hide. It helps my dogs breathe to smell better.

As far as flea and tick meds - Advantage works best for my dog. Make sure you get a strong enough dose (by weight). It kills the fleas on the dogs in 24 hours. It has kept fleas off my dog for over 30 days.

Frontline is alright to. They actually are about the same. When you use frontline however all the fleas will go to the dogs nose and start jumping off. Be ready with a vacuum cleaner to keep them out of your carpet or floors.

I use regular dog shampoo and I get the flea stuff that you have to put on the back of their neck,Advantage or Frontline,I know the generic doesn't work as well thogh and it doesn't last as long as the brand name.It keeps fleas and ticks off your dog,for a month! It works if they already have fleas or not and the fleas die off after about a day.It worked a miracle for my dog and my ferrets!!!

over use ov flea shampoo is harmful to the dog the poison in the shampoo can be absorbed through the dogs skin. Use frontline from the vet it is the number one rated flea and tick medication

Don't even worry about the shampoo. Ask your vet what size of Advantage you need for your pet's age and weight. Use it every 4-8 weeks, depending upon your problem. We only use it every 2 or 3 months, it works that well for us. Expensive, but worth every cent. It is also available on line for less, but you MUST ask your vet about the proper dosage. Good luck, fleas are the WORST!!!!!

I use Dawn dish liquid on all my dogs - sounds weird, but has the proper pH level, is inexpensive, and removes oils, grease, dirt. Once clean, use a preventative such as Advantix for fleas, ticks and mosquitos. Avoid anything that is sold in grocery stores, etc. Can be dangerous to animals and fleas eat the stuff!

FRONTLINE works extremely well!! Our cats just went through it this summer and we put the drops on the back of the cats necks - the fleas died and our home is ok too. Try FRONTLINE!!
