You would have to peroxide/bleach your hair first then dye it brown. It depends if your hair is red based or blue based. Blue based means it wont go an orangy colour. Red based means it will. So be careful.

Best advice - go to a haidresser as when you bleach the colour out of your hair and then apply more, you have no idea what it will turn out to be . So what , colour is good, but you really need to be concerned about the condition of your hair and what it will be like after all these products. Then you have the upkeep, I am dark and now prefer to keep it that way by means of lowlights which are brown, gold, and different shades of red, so it does not look rough when I am growing it out.

It sure is because I work with a girl that had black goth hair in the winter time. A few months later she went medium brown and now she is very light brown with lots of blond highlights.

However - I would leave this to the professionals as she did - I've seen too many botch jobs. And maybe the answer is to do it in a few stages like she did.

Most hair colour is possible, but as you are so dark, dont do it yourself as you will end up orange! Go to a good salon and get advice. A few highlights will lighten up your hair and give you a chance to see if you like it - as when you change your hair colour, you sometimes need to change your make up as well, so start off with a few and take it from there. Also invest in a good shampoo and conditoner to keep your hair in good condition

Just use a light permanent dye. I made that change about 7 months ago and I love it! I actually used the two step Loreal system for all over color and then highlights. The one called "honey blonde" comes out just a little darker than it shows on the box and it's GORGEOUS!!! I LOVE IT!

yes it is, if you wanted to go blonde it may be difficult but to be honest the stuff they use in hairdressers are great today- I have very dark brown hair but its a lovely chesnut with a blond streat through the back so it's all good- my advice go and have a colour consultation with a reputable hairdresser like Toni & guy or Saks very good people!

You could have some low-lights put in and see how you feel about that. If you like the look you can go further and change all your hair.

Oh, it possible to go Platinum Blond with your hair color,if you wanted. I would go to a salon and have it done, at least the first time. That way you will be assured that you get the color you wanted and that its done right. Once its been done then you can get the boxed color from the store to match yours.

Yes, you can do it. What I would suggest is getting some of that wash-out dye so you can see if you like it or not and want to go permanent. Good luck.
