Sneek over the border from Mexico. In the Bush administration, that seems to work well.

Q. Do you really need citizenship, or just permanent residence ? There are vast hordes of retired Brits living in the US - especially in Florida (I believe there are half a million Brits living in Florida at any one time).

See the links below (especially the first) for more info. I'm just a poor farm boy from Leicestershire, living in Arizona. Because I'm working, I went through a short term visa, then a green card & then became a US citizen in 2004.

I'm highly dubious of that lawyer - every country WANTS rich people (people who can support themselves above a certain financial level), to come to their country. But if you can establish permanent residency here, would that be just as good ?

GOOD LUCK !

Hey bud, your attorney to chase ambulances or something, Drop his ass and get a real attorney, this bum has given you wrong advice! You need to have a vested interest in the USA and by owning property you do. You need to have $18,000. dollars because that is the figure immigration come up with for you to survive while they are doing there thing with your paperwork.
One word of advice, open an American bank account before you come over and put some money in it.
