I comprehend your concern - I HATE needles too, yet a blood try somewhat isn't that great of a deal. you will bypass to the lab or the dr's workplace and a few very advantageous nurse will help you thru it. enable the nurse comprehend which you're apprehensive and that they are going to be greater sympatheitc. right here is what happens - they tie a small piece of rubber tubing around your bicep and then they take a very tiny needle - no longer lots thicker than some hairs and gently placed it on your arm - you will experience a pinch - yet somewhat no longer something. in basic terms sit down nonetheless and BREATHE!! be satisfied to convey a small 'good success attraction' to hold directly to or squeeze for reassurance. there is not any element in cancelling - you needless to say % the blood try for some thing and in case you cancel you will in basic terms might desire to get all labored up returned to do it yet all over returned. while you're somewhat petrified of the pinch which you will experience - bypass on your pharmacist at present and ask him/her for some Emla cream. it somewhat is a numbing cream that hospices use previously needles and small proceedures. you're able to desire to rub it on a pair of hours previously your blood try. you would be advantageous - your greatest impediment is your concern - no longer certainly the needle. So breathe deep and in basic terms get it over with.

Grit your teeth, stiffen upper lip, turn head away from person giving you injection and think of something pleasant. Doesn't take but a few minutes and the actual insertion of the needle only takes a second or two.
I was a blood doner for thirty odd years and so every 4 months had 1 pint taken from me, now because of my own illhealth I have to have blood tests every 2 - 3 weeks. Like me, you'll get used to it to the extent that eventually you will hardly notice.

Don't look at the needle and don't even think about it. That's what I do. I can't look at the blood but looking at the needle doesn't bother me. Weird huh? Just think of something else or keep talking to the nurse and get your mind completely away from it. I know it's hard but it's the only thing that works.

I never used to mind having blood tests until I had to have them when I was pregnant. Its not the needle that bothers me as such, its my over thinking of the needle going in to the vein. That just freaks me out. All you can do is breathe deeply, not look at the needle and pretend its not happening. You should also tell the nurse about your phobia beforehand.

Dont watch, and talk to the phlebotomist while she is doing it. I was extremely afraid of needles myself, then in my medical program where we were getting our phebotomy training, I had to be used as a pin coushin, we are talking up to 5 sticks a day over a very long period, and that is how I got thru it. Most of it is really just in ur head so if you can keep ur mind busy then you should be fine. If you feel comfortable enough with the phlebotomist, you can always ask her to double anker your vein, that stretches out the surface nerve endings so the stick feeling is a little less.

I know how you feel What I tend to do is just look away and its done really quickly, also focus on something you can look at, most places have posters on the wall and stuff. and waft yourself with your spare hand to keep yourself cool.
I hated needles and never needed a blood test but for the last 3 years I have had to have one every month- so now I am used to it- but I still dislike it, its really quick though!!

Think that it is better to have the needle rather than some treatable condition that was not detected due to a decision not to have the blood test. Your fear can harm you.
