Sorry that you've heard that Yorkies are "nasty". I've been a trainer for 35 years and haven't yet found a breed that is to fault. Sounds to me like he just slightly spoiled .... which is the most common problem with small dogs. He need definitive rules and consistent behavioral corrections in order for him to learn that not only is his behavior unacceptable, but also that you will not tolerate it! Corrections can include the use of a leash and collar, a poke at the neck, or a tap on the rear. If the consequence is not enough for him to really dislike it, it won't be effective in behavior modification. If you can't be consistent, then you will have to rely on management tools such as locking him up or using a muzzle .... a sad answer for an owner's laziness. Good luck! Sounds like a great little guy who just needs a boss!

Sudden changes in behaviour - worrying... check him out with vet just to rule out medical problems. If its behavioural its more difficult to sort out. Ignore the snapping if you can but be gentle - let the dog come to you and carry on as normal. Talk to your family to see if anyone has scared the dog. My friend had a rescue dog that snapped and growled at everyone - the centre had no history on him and were going to put him to sleep(my friend was a trainer). She let the dog stay under the table for the first week, didn't give the dog eye contact but spoke gently to him and just let him beuntil the dog gradually came to her - she didn't fuss the dog till it was extremely calm. Her advice is always take things at the dogs pace and don't confront the dog too soon - try to limit the situations that are encouraging him to snap.

Check him to see if he has anything bothering him; toothache, thorn in foot, etc. Is it hot where you are, he probably doesn't want to be bothered by noisy kids or too much activity near him. But when a dog starts this, be warned it could lead to a nasty bite and that's bad. Take it seriously and if you come up with no answer, contact the vet and have a complete exam and consultation with the vet.

the place is your breeding mentor? Why weren't you there as each and each domestic dog got here out to ascertain that she broke the placentas? for this reason you by no skill bypass away a canine this is had domestic dogs for a minimum of 24 hours! incredibly in case you have been too irresponsible to get a head count quantity via an ultrasound and fetal coronary heart computer screen! conversing of which, the place became into you coronary heart computer screen so as which you will see that if a fetal heartrate became into nonetheless present in the womb? With outdoor breeders and espresso high quality canines, very almost something is achieveable. you will possibly desire to be counting your reward that your canine survived the delivery given the lack of care. She desires to get to the vet to make constructive that no domestic dogs are left interior and that she's healthful. In 4-5 weeks, she might desire to be good adequate to get fixed. accomplish that. further: i don't comprehend if YA will evaluate my answer good adequate, so i will characteristic to it. The canine wandered around because of the fact the breeder left her too quickly. Your canine did no longer comprehend what became into occurring and doubtless did no longer even comprehend that she became into going to have greater doggies. So, she began wandering. this is uncommon for a Yorkie is have 7 doggies. yet, the BYB's and domestic dog turbines % to reproduce canines that have a good number of domestic dogs, so consistent with danger this is in her genetics.

If it's just recent maybe there is something happening that is bothering him? Can you think of something that has happened to him recently?

Dogs sometimes snap because they are afraid- remember to a wee yorkie we are giants! and can seem intimidating, especially if something scary has happened to him- out of your sight by another human.

Please don't think I'm accussing you of harming your dog- things that are normal to us because we understand them can be scary to a wee dog- for example mine is petrified when I change the bin bag because he doesn't like the rustling!

Having said that- you can't rule out something medical- if he's feeling ill or in pain perhaps he doesn't want to be bothered by anyone, they can't explain to us if they are suffering and might be soemthing you can't see.

If he was mine I would take him to the vet for a check up to be on the safe side and see what they say.

good luck with him.

First of all take him to the vets to get checked up.. He may be in pain and that is why he is snapping. Other than that its best to wait til the vet consultation is done and then we can look at the problem again....

He's snapping because you haven't taught him not to do that, and now he's mature and thinks he can do as he pleases. Cute as they are, Yorkies are real dogs and must be trained exactly the way you'd train one that was five times bigger.
