hi. this is a Telecom socket. i recommend you get on to BT and ask them to replace your Telecom box with a new BT NTE5 faceplate. With old sockets you will have old wiring too.

broadband would NOT work AT ALL on our telecom sockets, and still didnt work after we had a new NTE5 (modern bt socket) installed.

after 8 months we had our broadband account contract ended early for free after threatening to drag them through court if they didnt .

we moved to ZEN and they eventually got BT to install all new sockets (again) and we got or house rewired from the socket to the exchange and we have had NO problems since)

we had people from ZEN at our house and everything.

although ZEN is in Rochdale and we live about 10 minutes from their HQ.

good luck trying to get broadband down your line with one of them

you'll need it

also, sign upto an ISP which has a minimum 1 month contract at first. then if it dont work you can cancel ur broadband until it is sorted. some ISPs will be happy to take you to court. but u say the contract is thta we pay u 2 provide a service. u aint providin so u broke the contract really.

hope i helped.

gd luck.

Just go for a new operator tell them about the line that's already in and let them do the install as they see fit. They will probably replace/ upgrade your wall socket in the process. The wire will be used again copper wire hasn`t changed for a while now.

Its probably the old BT symbol, a T with the right branch of the T formed of two dots - sometimes with a circle around it.

I think that's a BT symbol, if it's a T with a dot to the right of it.
