I had a 13 year history of psoriasis, though I was in good health otherwise. But these severe large, thick and scaly excoriated plaques on my neck, ears, trunk and limbs ruined the way I was leading my life. I would be with red, inflamed itchy skin for most part of the year and these silvery scales would seem to be erupting without any reason. To make matters worse, blisters would appear over already red and itching skin. It was living hell.

I was treated with various options but nothing seemed to be working. Some of the treatments that I underwent in this depressing period of 13 years included tar preparation, tropical steroids and anthralin. I was also given light therapy many times but everything I tried would give me temporary relief.

And soon, after a few days I would be plagued with the situation again. In one of those moments when I was completely lost I stumbled upon this website just by chance. I read it and felt that as if someone had put the story my life on this web page. I was thoroughly convinced that if ANYONE can cure me of condition, it would be you.

And was I right, or what. I started recovering within 3 days of starting this treatment. Something that had become a painful part of me for 13 years was actually getting healed! My ears are healed and my neck is smooth again!. I am a month into the treatment and I have never felt better in my life!

See a dermatologist. I never went deaf from having flakes in my ears, but it was uncomfortable. There are a lot of therapies available -- a doc will help you find one that might work for you.

The newest treatments, for those with moderate to severe psoriasis and/or psoriatic arthritis and who have tried other treatments with no luck, are biologics that are either injected with a syringe or given to you at the office in IV form.

You might also do some research at www.psoriasis.org

I worked with a woman who had bad psoriasis on her hands. It looked very painful. Hers cleared up when she had what she called light treatments. It didn't cure the condition but it really helped ease it. I believe it's a type of ultraviolet light therapy, not like the lights found in tanning beds. You should ask your doctor about it if nothing else is working. Nothing else worked for her either. Good luck to you.

What you've got is generalized Psoriasis. This is a little difficult to treat but is not without hope if you follow the usual treatment protocol. Treatment should be with the proper guidance of an experience physician for it may require a combination of therapies. The following are used:

1. Topical tar therapy - useful either alone or in combination with UVB radiation in a modified GOECKERMAN program, using 2% crude coal tar ointment.

**********************************************************************
Phototherapy: Goeckerman Regimen

Goeckerman regimen involves a combination of tar and UVB phototherapy. It has proved particularly successful in treating psoriasis in patients who have not responded to other treatments. Administered over a period of three to four weeks, the treatment is known to produce lengthy remission periods of more than six months to a year even in severe cases.
The Goeckerman regimen can be administered in a hospital or a day treatment program. In the day treatment program the patient receives intensive tar and UVB phototherapy during the day but returns home or to a temporary residence in the evening. In a modified form of the Goeckerman regimen the patient is asked to apply the tar at his residence and then visit the doctor for receiving the radiation dose.

The Goeckerman approach has been found ideal by patients who have not responded to tar therapy alone. It takes about twenty treatment sessions for the psoriasis lesions to clear.

The Goeckerman regimen was introduced in the US in 1920’s by Dr. William H. Goeckerman and though it remains an effective therapy in the treatment of severe psoriasis, it has lost its place to new systemic therapies involving orals and injectables.

**********************************************************************

2. A medium-potency topical steroid - applied twice daily.
NOTE: Systemic steroids are contraindicated for its withdrawal can flare up a pustular psoriatic reaction.

3. Psoralen and UVA (PUVA) - Methoxsalen (Oxsoralen) 40 mg. orally 2 hours prior to exposure to UVA every other day.

For patients resistant to conventional therapy, methotrexate or etritenate may be required and should be used only by experienced physicians.

I suggest using all-natural Optiflora to treat the cause internally rather than just the symptom.

This two-product system uses new technology to protect beneficial microflora during the rigors of shipping, storage, and the acidic journey through your stomach. Other products claim live microflora at the time of manufacture. Optiflora guarantees the delivery of live microflora to your intestines.

This two-product system includes Probiotic (Bifidus & Acidophilus...microflora) + Prebiotic (FOS...food source for microflora). Patented guaranteed delivery of 500 million microflora to intestines.

Many times when something is going on inside our bodies it will manifest itself to the outside in some form such as psoriasis, cold sores, acne, etc.

Healthy inside - healthy outside.

Hope this is useful and feel free to contact me with questions.

Best Wishes
