I have a dog that rides a skateboard. I used to be a senior trainer at petsmart. When the stock would come in and we would take it out on the floor on the flat bed trollies, he would jump on and ride. He would have a fit he loved it so much. I got the idea to try a skateboard. I put one down in front of him and pushed it. He jumped on and has been riding ever since.
Another one is "saying prayers". Have him sit. Then scoop his paws up on your arm. Give a treat. When he is used to this, tap your arm and scoop his paws. Give treat. When he is used to this he will begin to put the paws up to get the treat, put the treat under your arm but between his paws so he has to duck his head between his paws for the treat - "say your prayers".
I also do dead dog, bang, spin, shake, wave bye bye, high 5, shooo that stinks, salute, roll over, and of course the big favorite - leave treats on the paws and only take them one at a time when I say to!!

I don't personally agreee with teaching dogs tricks, but the most important think with a dog is that he comes to call. ALWAYS. This can be done more easily when young, but it also works with older dogs. Keep your pet away from visitors for 6 months so that you & your family are his only contact with people, then at the same time, never take him out without having a lead on, then do let off the lead atall. Then start (in a confined placewhere he cannot run away from you) take him and a friend - or manage on your own - by using his name, & when he responds, give him a tny titbit. Do this a LOT. Then start to do this by calling his name in the house and whn he comes to you praise him and give a titbit. when this works EVERY time, go outside again and with a helper and call him backwards and forwards from each other giving a titbit every time te obeys. It must be second nature to your dog to come to you. It instills respect for each other. From this basic start, you can start to teach him other things - Suet

ok sit is really easy- take a dog treat and move it over and behind its head.
lie down -once its sitting move the treat down and infront of it
stay & come-2 people needed, one with a treat, says sit the slowly starts walking away while other person holds the dog, when around 10 meters call 'come'

well, I don't know if this is really the greatest trick ever, or even a trick, but I taught my pups to ring a bell when they need to go potty. I hung a christmas decoration with bells on it, on the door and they ring it with their paw to let me know they have to go out.
It easy to teach, just practice practice practice. Ask them "Do you want to go outside?" and they do their little excited dance.."ring the bell!!" and show them how by lifting up their paw and show them that means the door opens, they will get it.

Our oldest dachshund is very smart!!! He plays fetch, will lay down on cue, roll over, high five, and shake hands. He'll do anything to play fetch!!!!
It's been a few years since we taught him these tricks!! The shake, we just picked up his paw and told him shake. roll over we would get him to lay down and then push the side of his head lightly...(he only rolls one way..lol funny!) and told him roll over!

i taught my dog to bark on command. Its great for parties as he barks for one man and his dog..went to mow a meadow...and how much is that doggy in the window! I just encouraged him to bark by teasing him with a toy, and wouldn't give him the toy til he 'spoke'. I pointed my finger at him at the same time. Now all i have to do is point my finger at him and he barks! brilliant!

My dog weaves in and out of my legs. Easy trick to teach too, you just use a treat to guide them.
