Funny question after the one before yours- so I will answer serioulsy. Watch the movie' Whats Eating Gilbert Grape"- real tearjerker. No onions involved unless you are dipping chips into onion dip while you watch it.

Remove the outer brittle papery skin. Fully immerse and soak your onions in water for about 1/2 before cutting. Plain water will do. You could also use a salt solution.

cut the onions under water, like in a pan or pot. It will prevent the gas from getting up to your eyes.

put your onions in the fridge at least 1 hour before cutting.
