Why is that whenever you are in a US city, Black people tend to approach you to ask the time?

".......ya gots the time?"

Why can' t these people just get a job and buy a watch?

It's a total incovenience for the rest of us.

That you never wore a watch in your life sounds like your own willful intent. But did you go around asking everyone for the time? If you chose not to wear the watch, then it seems that you had other individual alternative to learn of the time of day. The correlation between being employed and "owning" a watch is not relevant here.

It seems that the person asking the question is suggesting that the person get a job to buy the watch, and thus eliminate the need to inconvenience others and do so by his own means. Perhaps you would prefer the watch be given at the Welfare Office.

I have had this experience before with Blacks in US cities. If it is not "the time", then they are asking where "Leroy Street" is even though they probably live in that neighborhood. Please also see above. Another poster has also noted his/her experience about being questioned by Blacks about the time of day.

Perhaps the fact that Blacks believe that others are obligated to tell them the time AND not buy their own watch is just another extension of the pathetic Welfare State that does neither believe accountability, transparency or a workethic, and promotes "respect" and "self-esteem" before "achievement."

Further, may I add that it is "Black people" not "black people." Perhaps not only are you the racist moron, but you owe the poster of the question an apology, too.

Lastly, just because a person (let's assume he is White) raises an observation about Black people does not automatically make that person a racist. It is for knee-jerk, judgmental people like you that perhaps society cannot have a meaningful discussion about race relations.

I've said enough. Look'n at my watch....I gotta go.

Peace.

You're insane and I think you're just making this up! I have never heard of this "Epidemic" of black people asking strangers what time it is more then white people asking!
You know what? If it's such an inconvenience to you, just keep walking and don't answer. But don't speak for the rest of us when you claim it's inconvenient! I'm not a hateful, rude, mean obnoxious person to get that irritated for someone simply asking me for the time.
Like I said, I think you're just making this up, but for a second I'll pretend you're not and I'll wonder if you would be posting such a ridiculous question if it was all white people asking for the time.
Furthermore, why do you automatically assume that just because someone doesn't wear a watch, they have no job? Up until my husband bought me a watch for Christmas a few years back, I never wore one a day in my life and I have always worked! I know plenty of people who don't wear watches, but still hold down jobs. You're just a racist jerk and you make yourself look like the @ss that your are for posting this question.

This is a really stupid question. It is totally pointless to even consider that which you ask. If something is an inconvenience to you, don't bother with it. Many people ask the time. This is just ridiculous.

What about those White People who are not civil enough to tell the time? Steretyping is the most disgusting enemy of social life.

So, it's an inconvience for you to spend approx 1.5 seconds giving someone the time of day?

And yet, you still expect us to answer your questions which can take a lot longer than that.
