When "On the Road" was first translated into Somali, the translator was hungover and unfortunately mistranslated "cat" with the word for a feline, rather than with an appropriate equivalent piece of slang. The delightfully eccentric but disturbingly tyrannical King of Somalia read the book and was so amused by this surreal humour that he insisted that his lackeys put on a theatrical adaptation of the novel. These lackeys are currently posting adverts on the interweb and in the local press to find cats to play the lead roles, and have been threatened with castration if they don't find them by next Wednesday!
