'We are such stuff as dreams are made on, and our little life is rounded with sleep.'

I think this is a fascinating perspective. Does our life end in sleep? Do we dream before we are born?

Psalms 62:9 Indeed the sons of earthling man are an exhalation, The sons of man are a lie, When laid upon the scales they are all together lighter than an exhalation.

Most peoples life ends in sleep in death, in the memorial tomb, to be awaken..John 5:28,29.

We do not exist before we are born, so we cannot dream then.

Psalms 139:16 Your eyes saw even the embryo of me, And in your book all its parts were down in writing, As regards *the day when they were formed,* And there was not one among them.

We are not dreams, we are real, life ends for many in sleep, awaiting Jesus to raise them, some life ends in Gehenna, and for others, they never die, but put on immortality.

How did you come to those conclusions?

We are such stuff as dreams are made on. To me means that if you have nightmares in your dreams, you'll have a bad existance when you are awake. If you dream pleasantly you have a pleasant life while awake.

Our life is rounded with sleep, Obviously this means to take the "edge" off your waking life all you have to do is sleep it off.

Good question, I wonder if we do dream before we are born, maybe when the unborn child is very still in the womb then maybe its dreaming, I guess to a point we do end our life in sleep, an eternal sleep perhaps, parents tend to tell children when a close family member, friend or even a pet has died that 'they have gone to sleep' which sounds so much nicer than 'died' doesn't it.

Aaah, The Tempest. Certainly life seems like a dream at times, full of the unexpected, the terrible and the wonderful. But maybe we wake up after this life rather than go to sleep, because we are so caught up in our own 'dream' rather than in the wholeness of existence. It's a good quote to hold onto in times of trouble - as with dreams, they can seem terrible at times but nothing really matters and everything is temporary and in the end illusive.

We are the dream, asleep or awake; born into the world or before. That's all any of this is. It's just a perspective, a facet if you will. I agree, it is fascinating; in a detached sort of way.

Yes you dreamed before you were born. What do you think that birth is. Soon you will awaken from this dream that you started so long ago and we will have a good laugh about how real it all seemed.

Isn't it: We are such stuff as dreams are made OF ...'? From Yeats?

No, I don't think it has to do with sleep, per se. Just awareness, consciousness, perception ...

Your question, coming from within a predominantly "religious" section of the site, is refreshing and shows a "spirit" at work within you, which seeks understanding, as well as to understand. That's the kind of spirit the, according to the principles in the Bible, God seeks.

Early English authors tended to be, as well as gifted in speech, spiritual individuals. They had come through an age of religious turmoil, for which many gave literally their lives, and cruelty "in the name of God" was an everyday certainty. Please, if you will indulge a bit of soul-searching, try to wrap your mind about the concept that, you may join a group, be it the Army or the Salvation Army. You may wear the uniform. You may like to think of yourself as "belonging." However, if you go your own way in spite of the fact that the "group" to which you belong is going elsewhere, two things happen. You feel betrayed by they whom you thought represented your very own beliefs and ideals. You represent, to any observer, the "group," because you still wear the uniform, and you do them no justice by the representation.

Many think that, because they spend a ponderous amount of time in a church, that they, of course, are "Christians," as though spending time in a garage makes one an automobile!

Answers, such as you seek, must, of necessity, come from One who can speak with authority, and with certainty. These are spiritual questions, wanting of a spiritual answer.

Once, there was a minister who said, regularly, as all should say,"Don't believe ME. Believe your Bible."

Many have come to believe that the answer(s) lie(s) within that book. But, you must, with an open mind and that perceptive spirit which is within you, study the matter, question the writings AND yourself, and accept, or not, as your spirit will lead you. God, incidentally, promised to those who would seek the answers (Book of Hebrews, Chapter 11), He will strengthen their spirits and arrange for you, then, to comprehend the answers. "...how like a 'God'...," said an early writer, and an Englishman, at that. Yes, read good literature, "feed" that spirit for it's hungering after knowledge. Be cautious of accepting "truth" from any "man." If "mankind had such spiritual truth, knowledge, and wisdom, THIS would be Heaven.
ps: Knowledge is simply the retention of valid information. Wisdom is all about the ability to rightly apply it, and, wouldn't you know it, He promised that, too, as a gift, if...
Now, read the story, if you hunger for an answer like that!

Oh!! I love this! Yes, I believe babies dream before they are born. Our basic personality is complete at birth so dreaming must be the way our brains learn. Maybe we are dreaming we are alive and only fully wake up at death???

Jehovah witnesses believe that we go into sleep mode after we die and then God a.k.a Jehovah will have us in our memory and will wake us up....I don't believe in that at all. I believe that when we die we are either on the waiting list to get into heaven (depending on our sins that we committed and didnt get to confess them, etc etc) or if you lived a good life go straight to heaven and all that jazz. I don't want to believe in somthing else because I am already scared of death and believing this is just for comfort.
