Sorry to hear about your child, but help is available. OCD occurs when a person suffers from an anxiety and has no other coping skill available to them to deal with it. Cognitive- Behavioural Therapy has proved to be successful in dealing with this problem as it will teach new coping skills, and help put anxieties into perspective. You can find a qualified therapist in your area who is experienced in working with children on www.bacp.co.uk. This will give you all the details you need, as well as further advice. Normally, a series of six sessions is needed at around £30- £40 each. Alternatively, your GP can make a referral, but waiting lists are usually long.

my child is ADD but my boyfriend is OCD. He's on Lexapro for it. I would suggest taking the child to someone who does hair anaylsis. Your hair stores all your vitamins and minerals and an anaylsis will show which ones are lacking. You would not believe the results of these things. It's amazing. There's a place in Clinton SC called Specialized Nutrition that offers hair anaylsis. 864-833-4372. That maybe far from you but maybe he (charlie campbell) can put you contact with someone who does it. He helped me when no doctor ever could. It's worth a try!!

Hi,
I suggest you visit the site: www.ocduk.org
or their forums: www.ocdforums.org

where there are specific forums for your child and you, plus plenty of info on the condition and treatment. Good luck.
