They are both good units. When they are that equal in specs the only variable left is your personal choice. You should go to a local shop and listen to both options and decide for yourself which you like better. I personally don't like either for low end. They are good units from good companies but neither sub strokes far enough to reach low end frequencies. I prefer long stroking subs like JL Audio etc... Hope I have been helpful.

Both have they're ups and down, rockfords have been known to be able to hit a lower frequency in bass, but not as loud and crisp as alpine's.
It's all a personal preference on the type of music you listen to..if you listen to techno, and other bassy songs, go for the rockford, if you listen to rock, punk, etc go for the alpines.

Each sub should come with a data sheet. You want to look at the signal to noise ratio. The closer it is to zero the better. Try not to get anything that is over one or it will just sound bad. You may want to keep looking for another sub if both of them are above or close to one.

imo rockford hasnt put out a really good sub in about 10 years. and i really hate alpine. so if i had to choose between the 2 i would go with the rockford.

It's all personal preference. The bottom line is you have to listen to both of these yourself and determine which one YOU think sounds better. These are both made by highly regarded manufacturers and you can find an equal number of people who think one is better than the other.

ive had both, Alpine sounds much beter but the rockford is louder but muddy

I doubt either will dissapoint, but I will never own anything but JL Audio.
