I have a fujifilm finepix s5600. if i want to add an additional lens ie. wide angle lens, do i have to buy lens adapter ring.

You can get a wide-angle lens (WL-FX9B) and a tele-extender (TL-FX9B) lens for your S5600. Both require an adaptor ring to attach the extra lens to the camera. The part numbers for these extra lenses already include the adaptor ring however, so you don't have to order it seperately! (If you break the adaptor ring, you can order one as part AR-FX9.)

It depends on the lens you are going to buy and the lens size you currently have on your camera now.

Generally I only use an adapter ring for filters of different cameras.

I brought a set of filters for my SLR camera, and then wanted to use the same filters for my DV Camera, so I brought an adapter ring so that the filters would fit the different sized lens.

if the camera requires, yes. You need this so you can easily screw on additional lenses.
