One maybe a bit scared (the first time), that's about all. Fasten your seat-belts properly (with the help of in-house staff, if necessary). Listen to and follow the instructions given by the staff carefully. If still in doubt, ask the staff or more experienced passengers. There is also a flight safety book, readily available, to each passenger. Fellow passengers are usually, very helpful, but you never know with them; so, it's always better to ask official staff, such as air hostesses or stewards, etc.

I think the first thing which is most noticeable is that their ears feel like it all blocked up, because of presssure changes. Some may get motion sickness, just like in cars.

nausea... motion sickness, and the thing felt by most is pressure on ears, but it subsides gradually.
