A previous post has got me thinking: if the being referred to as God is omniscient and sees us all, and all our good deeds and bad etc: he must have multiple minds.

If there's 6 billion + people on the planet, God would need 6 billion different trains of thought to concentrate and make mental notes etc.

Is this the way you see it, or is he more like a super super computer that processes multiple tasks simultaneously?

Don't mean to offend anyone, but it's the best analogy I can think of and I'm sure it's not too offensive, maybe a little informal.

I'm not religious and I'm pretty happy being me: just interested in the take that people who think about this a lot, have on the matter. Thanks for all your thoughts

That's a pretty good question. I never thought about it before.

Now that I am....

I always felt like, when I speak to God, I 'm the center of his attention. And I always believed that everyone else had that same privilege.

Would make for a busy God, admittedly.

Yet, we are taught that God is everywhere, with everyone..

Now, how does He do that?

You know, the other day I saw a woman at the park with half a dozen little ones. They all clamored for her attention and she nodded, and smiled and answered each one while listening to the next one. and all the children ran off to play satisfied that whatever they were clamming about had been taken care of.
I don't know how she did it either.
Maybe it's a parenting instinct.
Maybe when one has as many children as God does, one becomes mega good at it.

Maybe, just an idea, our souls came from Him, so, maybe, He already knows. We are created in His image. Like He knows the properties of our souls, our desires and what nots, not because He is so many different faces, but because we are One. Like drops of water from the same pool all have basically the same chemical properties.

Just thinking.
Gonna have to debate this awhile.

Thanks for the great question.

I'll explain this in 2 different ways. By the way good question.

1. Have you ever been a parent, babysitter, or any other type of person that has to watch multiple people at the same time? I only have 1 mind and I have watched 10 kids at the same time. I saw everything each one of them did. They were all in a day care room so it was easy to watch them all. I could have probably done a few more, but not much more. I had little experience and only a human mind.

God has been around since there was only 2 people, so God has the experience to be able to watch a lot more. Also Gods is not limited like man is. Think about it; we discover things about ourselves every day. Gods been around long enough to know all God needs to know about him/herself. So Gods mind is not bound like ours is. God also has a larger "mind" then we do.

2. mothers intuition. A mother ussually knows if something is wrong with thier kid even if they are not there; some even can tell you what is wrong. Now multiply this ability times infinity and you come to Gods abilility to do this. Again God has been around for a long time, God knows this ability inside and out.

You're trying to put God in a box and define Him. I think the thing us humans has such a hard time wrapping our head around is that we experience a human reality. We can't imagine that it's limited or small. We tend to think of ourselves as the most complex, vastly advanced beings. We rarely stop to think that the dude that created us could be so much more - capable of things we can't even imagine.

Many see God as timeless. Like He exists right now but also, simultaneously in the past and future. To some extent that explains how He knows everything and experiences everything and can orchestrate a plan. It's a hard concept to think about and not have multiple headaches over.

Contrary to popular belief, you can be yourself and still have faith. Faith and religion are two seperate issues.

Great question. God love you.

No one really knows HOW God does it...we just know that He does. Just like most people don't understand how a car works, they just drive it.
Your analogy of a super computer might not be far off the mark. God is a Spirit and is not limited to thought processes as we know it. It is impossible for us to imagine the ability to hear everything at once because we are limited by our bodies.
Just like it is impossible for us to imagine living outside of time. We can't comprehend a timeless environment, but that's exactly what God lives in.
There is much that will be answered after we leave these bodies. We all WILL die, that is a fact. Where we go after we die depends on if we lived for God or for ourselves.

You only ask this question because you misunderstand what you yourself are.
God is everywhere sort of by default. I say this because God is actually everything that exists.

Many religions tell us that God lives on a far off cloud called heaven. What they are saying is that there are things that are not of God. This is not true.

The universe and everything in it exists as a part of God. Nothing exists that exists outside of God. If we could travel to the most distant moon it the universe and go to the back side of it and pick up any rock, each and every grain of sand under that rock would still be from the same God.

God is not over there somewhere while something else is over here. All of it is God. Each and every one of us and everything else that exists, exists, lives breaths and moves within this idea of God as a part of God. To see it any other way is to put a limitation on something that cannot be limited, God.

As you see, I, myself is a Christian and I believe that how many people in this world, how big they are, God can see what we are doing, because He is the GOD, He is the Almighty, nobody can beat and defeat Him, nobody will stand higher than Him. Cause He is the Creator, the Inventor and the GOD of all creations.
Think of this, think very hard and serious, if there was no universe before, right there was really no planets, stars, earth, galaxies, moons, comets and in short, universe, where is GOD living? Just think hard, there was no people, who made Him? Who made GOD THE FATHER? Jesus still isn't there that time..think. HE IS SO POWERFUL.

you're worse than the annoying orange. a million. we don't have a hundred% information that God exists. YOU each physique is SO annoying! It takes faith faith faith. F.A.I.T.H to have self belief something. heavily, what number cases can we would desire to continuously say it!! 2. that is your individuals, i'm under no circumstances apprehensive approximately hell or the devil. Why might desire to I be apprehensive? God is going to defeat the devil! Please do no longer choose Christians in basic terms on your outlook of your few acquaintances. 3. ok - this question makes no sense. of direction i bypass to assert we are top!! If we've been incorrect, then we would die continuously and by no skill see something returned. Sound exciting? 4. we don't attempt to transform people. you're attempting now to shove your faith (atheist?) down our throats. even although you will possibly no longer call it that. very nicely, consistent with danger some individuals do attempt to shove it down your throat and that i'm apologizing for them. Sorry. somewhat, this isn't any longer very advantageous whilst people try this, i comprehend. yet another faith does it in basic terms as lots. 5. Why the heck might you % to experience sympathy for the devil? heavily? Why? He chosen his destiny. 6. The Bible would not somewhat provide us a great source of education approximately hell - meaning it would not define all of it. Matthew 13:40 9-50 it somewhat is the way it somewhat is going to be on the top of the age. The angels will come and separate the wicked from the righteous and throw them into the fiery furnace, the place there will be weeping and gnashing of tooth. Luke sixteen:23-24 In hell, the place he became into in torment, he looked up and observed Abraham some distance away, with Lazarus by skill of his section. So he called to him, 'Father Abraham, have pity on me and deliver Lazarus to dip the top of his finger in water and funky my tongue, because of the fact i'm in ache in this fireplace.'

Great question!!! We have to understand that God is SO far above anything that we can understand and there are aspects of His being that we, in our finite minds cannot understand or even begin to comprehend. How about the fact that God is not bound by time? He sees all of time simultaneously! I can't explain to you HOW He does it, it just is how He is! How great is our God!?!!? :)

since i can read multiple posts, carry on a conversation and watch t.v. all at the same time, i have to assume that an omnipetent and divine being could easily process things much faster and more efficiently than a super-computer.

the cray xm series would be jealous.
