There are three levels in sacrament of Holy Orders, Deacon, Priest, and Bishop.
Bishops are the Apostles of today. Each one leads a diocese, a large church centered around a city. Parishes are part of this larger church. Special types of bishop are archbishop, cardinal, and pope (who leads the whole Church). Bishops can celebrate all of the sacraments.
Priests are co-workers of the bishops and can lead a parish. A special title for a priest is monsignor. Priests can celebrate all of the sacraments except Holy Orders.
Deacons assist the bishop and priests in the celebration of the Eucharist, in the distribution of Holy Communion, in assisting at and blessing marriages, in the proclamation of the Gospel and preaching, in presiding over baptisms and funerals, and in dedicating themselves to the various ministries of charity.

A deacon does not have as much authority as a priest does, even though both are ordained.
Only a priest can administer the sacraments of Eucharist, Reconciliation, and Annointing of the Sick. Only a priest can forgive sins.
A deacon may baptize people and be the church's witness in Matrimony.
A person who is married may become a deacon, but not a priest. If a deacon's wife dies, the deacon is not allowed to remarry.
Many deacons have full time jobs in addition to being a deacon. A priest's job is a full time job.

We don't have Deacons. That's a Protestant title. Canon is the title for a person who lives in the Church grounds, from Canon law. A priest is in charge of getting a parrish organized and kept on track spiritually, as well as grabbing the cash to maintain the faith's property and interests. A Deacon helps over see a Protestant Church's interest, kind of like an Elder if you will. Reminds me of a joke actually , but I'll spare you the offence!

Priests ARE above deacons.

1596 Deacons are ministers ordained for tasks of service of the Church; they do not receive the ministerial priesthood, but ordination confers on them important functions in the ministry of the word, divine worship, pastoral governance, and the service of charity, tasks which they must carry out under the pastoral authority of their bishop.

A priest is one who is married to the church and cannot get married . He is the only one who can hears confession and perform mass by consecrating the host into the body of Christ.
A deacon on the other hand can be married. He can help servre mass but cannot consecrate the host \. He cannot perform mass by himself. He can perform weddings and baptisms. He gives homilys(sermons) at mass.He helps the priest with many functions at church. Some help teach converts,prepare people for marriage, and may help out at funerals.

A deacon is charge of a deanary which is larger than a priest's, responsible only for a local parish. A deanary is in turn smaller than a diocese precided over by a bishop.
