I commuted 1 hour and 20 minutes each way, each day, 5 days a week to work, for the last 5 years. The options were not good for living closer, nor for working closer. If you can get a flat in town, then you would have to work to pay for it. At home your parents can support you. It all depends on what you want. Personally, I couldn't wait to get away from my parents when I was in college.

10 miles on side streets, 15 miles by freeway, takes about the same time either way.

Most of the year I ride a motorcycle, but in the summer I like to bicycle to work when I can. When it snows or the weather is particularly crappy I drive my Jeep, but it's heavily modified and gets horrible mileage. Goes anywhere, though!

16 miles, and I drive...takes 30 minutes to get to work and 45-60 to get home....and I live in a rural area with lots of construction and a plethora of traffic lights and bad traffic on the way home. Used to be safe enough to take a moped to work, it's not anymore.

My work is about 10kms away from where I live and I take a bus which takes about 8 minutes to get there. However its a different story with my boyfriend. He works about 30 km's away from home and takes the bus which takes about 45 mins to get to work.

Have you ever noticed that 9/10 times women describe distance with time and men describe distance with length?
