Hello!! :o) YES - I believe that 'evil' - in of itself - exists. And I believe that Satan [or 'The Devil'] is the 'father' of evil. There was a great line in the movie 'The Usual Suspects' staring Kevin Spacey. Spacey's character [I forget his name] said, ""The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist." I absolutely believe that. If I can do something horrible to you - and also convince you that I don't even exist - you will have to find someone ELSE to blame. This is why God gets blamed for a lot of horrible things. Craig!! :o)

Well, yes. "Wrong" does exist. Since we are humans that have human limitations, we have to abide by certain rules in a civilized society.

I don't know if there is a 'universal evil', but I know there are absolutes.
I'm sure where ever in the universe there is something called cruelty, injustice and suffering, they are considered "bad".

ANd this is, from what I am reading above, where I differ from my agnostic/atheist brothers and sisters. Where they err is when they say there is no right or wrong, only difference in opinion. I'm sure their young and foolish naive minds would soon change if one of their kids was kidnapped, raped and killed. I don't know anywhere on the globe or could imagine in the outer universe with the ET's where that might be cosidered "nice". They need to fill in the gaps a bit better when it comes to their thoughts on ethics.

Evil is a judgment that is specific to the point of view of the one passing the judgment, or the one deciding that the action constitutes evil. It does not exist outside of the mind of the one judging the action as evil.

Others may agree who hold a similar point of view but this does not make it real. Someone viewing the situation from a separate or opposite point of view will see the situation differently.
Often viewing the same action as a good or positive turn of events.

Evil is the name we give to things that we wish had not happened, and to the people who do these things.

Good is the name we give to things that we like. What is good for one group may be considered bad to some other group who sees things from a divergent point of view.

Evil is only a thought in our minds, unless we fool ourselves into thinking it is external and that it may seek to do us harm. This is a trick that we play on ourselves, no more no less.

No. Evil is a way of being. If you allow me to say it. Mind IS THE EVIL. It may appear shocking. Howsoever good or bad the mind be. Mind is the barrier between man and the god. Hence human Mind IS THE EVIL.
(Please see buddhist literature to clarify the concept, or read some of osho's literature)

No. It's all relative. Something can be better or worse than other things. Evil doesn't exist on it's own, except in the minds of the religious.

Good question (philosophically interesting). The answer is no - evil is a human concept that we apply to those who transgress our particular moral code. That's why there are different ideas of what constitutes evil in different societies and religions.

The evil is usually pronounced as "devil". It does not exist anywhere except inside human mind.

Yes, and if you don't beleive it, go on a tour of any correctional facility and look at the inmates. There is always one or two around of whom you can sense the evil from.

because i believe in the bible and the Word of God, i have to believe that satan also exists. satan is referred to as the god (little "g") of this (earth) world. one of the reasons that God said to "put no other gods before Me".

because satan exists and can influence our actions, evil itself is alive in this world. not that i think that every bad deed is the work of the devil. mankind is pretty good at being bad, all by themselves.
