Esop’s Fables are well written also..
The bible has been distorted thru centuries of translations by the “Thou shalt not” crowd that it barely resembles the textbook it was intended to be.
Yes I said textbook. It’s supposed to be a teaching tool not just a sacred heavy object to beat people over the head with.
It has some good lessons in it, and some not so good personal ideas added over the years.
On the other hand books like the Dinastic Texts were omitted because they don’t agree altogether with some religious norms, even though they were written about the time Christ walked the earth in his very language.
The editing of the bible has always been done by those with their own agenda.
But still some hope flows out of some of it’s pages. This is a testament to the real message rather than those who scribed it.
Remember it also contained the fuel for the inquisitions, witch hunts, (past and present), and numerous wars, even the KKK pulls obscure passages from it to justify their actions.

Is it convincing? Where did Cain and Abel get wives? If God is all pervasive, how did things get beyond his control many times? You read of countless problems while God stood by or smooth down this race or that city, Famines sound pretty nasty, nor did the betrayal of His Son seem too nice. What point was to be proved by the crucifying Christ...to whom was the lesson intended? "Christ died for my sins"...why should we have sins if we are made in God's Image? I won't even bother with immaculate conception, and the Virgin Mary. It stretches the imagination to accept many things but moreover, what you read is not the original texts, but translations and interpretations and many books were left out at the behest of the church and remain under careful guard at the Vatican. I can take illiterate ramblings and wordsmith them into quasi-intelligence but there are not original and reflect only an interpretation.

It's easy to write something that is convincing. Look at what the Da Vinci Code did and all the people that were wondering was it real etc. The bible has some great passages, and also has some passages that are full of ****. Don't believe everything you read.

It has been through several metamorphoses too. Don't forget up to the time of Henry VIII the bible was only available in Latin. At that time few people could read in English , let alone Latin so to hear what was written down they had to go to church to listen to the preacher. The first man in England to translate the bible into English, William Tyndale was actually burnt at the stake for doing so! It was only when printed bibles ( as opposed to hand written) became available in other languages than Latin , and people began to learn to read that the public could make their own minds up .

So much has been left out. The ones in the bible were hand-picked by a group of clergymen, since there were hundreds of gospels. They picked the best ones

2 Timothy 3:16 ~ When God is the inspiration... things become excellent! If this is a serious question I think it is beautiful and I love you for asking it. A refreshing break from cynicism and atheism.
