I am amazed how many of you don't know your bible, but talk as if you do. If is VERY CLEAR that they are brother and sister, they have the same father.!!

Genesis 20:11-12 "And Abraham said, Because I thought, Surely the fear of God is not in this place; and they will slay me for my wife's sake. And yet indeed she is my sister; she is the daughter of my father, but not the daughter of my mother; and she became my wife."
Yes, she was his half-sister. Abraham didn't lie when he said that she was his sister; he just didn't tell Abimelech that Sarah was his wife because he was afraid that he would be killed so that they could have Sarah since she was very beautiful. Thus, if they knew that she was his sister, he would be honored. By doing so, however, God was going to punish Abimelech for taking Abraham's wife.
Therefore, Abraham did not lie on either account... she was his sister and his wife.

Sarah was actually Abraham's cousin. So they had the same grandfather. In this way, Abraham's misrepresentation is not totally a lie, just a different interpretation of the facts.
Abraham and Sarah had an agreement that she would pose as his sister when traveling in order to save Abraham from being killed by jealous men.
Sarah was very attractive and men would kill her husband in order to make her their wife.

Some historians believe Abraham and Sarah are mythic persons since there are no traces of them historically except for the bible solely as a source. Some even suspect their names are derived forms from the ancient Hindu Gods Brahma and Saraswati ( Husband and wife also )
I read it over a few university professor's thesis papers. Hope i can recover those papers for knwoledge sake

NO! Sarah lived next door and often called around Abraham's place, so often that some people thought they were related but they weren't. Sarah in fact was an illegal immigrant but that doesn't usually get mentioned.

He did not call Sarah his sister often - only when they were within the control of the Egyptians. The did not have the same parents (mother or father).

No. She called him "LORD" but that was out of honor. That didn't make him God, right? He called her "sister" out of love, but there was a time when he told a big fat lie, in error that she was his sister...told this to an overlord and Pharoah because he thought if they (the Egyptians) knew the beautiful Sarai was his wife that they would kill him in order to marry her. Fear makes people do foolish things.

She was his half-sister (Gen. 20:12). This wasn't uncommon in that day. God probably thought we were getting a little too big for our britches and so let the inbreeding go on for awhile. Now He keeps it limited to certain southern states of the US.

They were not actually brother and sister. If you read carefully, it says he was afraid of being killed because she was so beautiful that other men woould kill to have her so he wimped out and called her "sister".
