It seems to me that Islam lacks any clear atonement for our sins. Can a Moslem scholar show from the Koran where the payment for human sins is within the Islamic religion. On precisely what basis is forgiveness of human sins constructed in Islam ? That basis is clearly stated in Judaism as in Christianity. It seems entirely lacking in Islam.

Like any other religion (while sharing some similarities) Islam has a little different concept of sin and forgiveness.

First thing is that you are not born with such thing called "original sin" and if you do something bad, while there might be punishments under the country's law you live in, you have to ask for your forgiveness within your heart to God with a promise not to do it again.

I really don't understand what exactly do you mean by "payment for our sins". Do you mean something like what Christians say about Jesus that he died in order to remove everyone's sins?
If so, in Islam, everyone is responsible for his and her own actions and deeds, no other innocent person has to die to take away our sins.

Another Muslim brother has posted the verses of Quran about forgiveness so there is no point posting them again.

please democracy read the holy quran before saying the word "lack" ... it clearly stated everything there

"[54] And indeed We have put forth every kind of example in this Qur'ân, for mankind. But, man is ever more quarrelsome than anything. "

surat al Kahf

we regret from our sin by willing not to come back for it again and ask forgivness from Allah the almighty
eventhough if we came back for this sin we could ask forgivness from Allah again ... because he is the most merciful

sickness pays your sins too
money for the poor
praying
fasting
Good deeds
and so on ..... even your good treatment with people and even animals pays for your sins

read more and you will know more ... trust me

Peace to all

In simple words if you have done a sin ask for forgiveness from God honestly and refrain from doing the sin again,God will forgive you. That is how in ISLAM forgiveness is granted. You need not to go to any priest for pleading your case.
This way of forgiveness is very natural even for this life and for the life after death.

well 1st of all, in islam , Allah says that no man can die for someone's sin. i am rsponsible for my actions and u are responsible for urs. that means u reap what u sow. u pay ur price i pay mine.

2nd, we do not have preists to whom we go and confess. all our confessions are heard only by the Supreme Judge- Allah. and He will decide about me.

3rd, when Allah says i will punish non-beleivers then he does not mean, people of other faith, He simply means those who comit sin. all people irrespective of their religion, caste and creed are equal in the eyes of God. u do good deeeds then u are rewarded and u do bad deeds then u are punished.

4th, the basis of forgiveness is SALAH-PRAYER AND REPENTENCE. THAT IS THE ONLY WAY OF FORGIVENESS. THERE IS NO OTHER WAY, NO SACRIFISING ANIMALS OR MEN. (muslims sacrifise the ram /lamb/camel during Bakrid becoz it is a sincere attempt to remember the sacrifise Abraham-pbuh made when Allah took him to test.)

if u want to know exactly what is islam, who was Allah, muhammed-pbuh and who a muslim is - then read the Quran. dont read it with an intention of finding faults, the u will never understand it. read it with an open mind.

Only Allah can forgive the sins committed by His bandahs. No priest, nor even a prophet can grant absolution. Forgiveness must be sought through repentance and prayer. Start with a sincere tawbah.

In Islam we don't consider giving money for forgiveness is right. If this is true the rich people will continue doing wrong things and paying . and poor people won't have the chance .

In our religion forgiveness comes from doing good things like feeding poor people and help children , praying and confession of our guilt and stop doing it or ( Tauba ) , God don't need our money to forgive us .

Chapter 99 of the Qur'an:

In the Name of God, the Compassionate, the Merciful
WHEN the Earth with her quaking shall quake
And the Earth shall cast forth her burdens,
And man shall say, What aileth her?
On that day shall she tell out her tidings,
Because thy Lord shall have inspired her.
On that day shall men come forward in throngs to behold their works,
And whosoever shall have wrought an atom's weight of good shall behold it,
And whosoever shall have wrought an atom's weight of evil shall behold it
