I have heard that you get less 'good' sleep if you go to bed after midnight than if you do before. I find I am often still trying to sleep at 2 or 3am even on a work day, although I do shifts so some of my days start at 7am or some start at 1330. Even on an early shift I might still be awake at 1am.

Could be. I work overnight and get to bed at about 6 or 7 a.m. It is difficult for me to get 8 hours of sleep, although I do try to do so as often as possible.

Sleeping during the day is harder because it is noisier, the phone rings too often and I have trouble sleeping when it is full daylight.

A poor sleep schedule never will allow you to progress through your sleep stages like you should. We need to spend a certain amount of sleep in different stages in order for out bodies to produce certain estrogens and hormones. Rem sleep is very important to have also, but too much rem after sleep deprivation can cause you to feel over worked . Your last rem period usually falls between 4-6 am If you ever notice, sometimes you may awaken in the morning from a dream(which usually happens in rem)

go to www.nsf.org (National Sleep Foundation) they can explain it in detail

my doctor told me I need at least 6 hours of straight sleep at once. That your body doesnt get a full rest unless it has 6 hours straight sleep. I was doing double shifts and only sleeping 3 hours then work then another 3 hours. Time of day has nothing to do with it. NOTHING

Not true. According to experts, the most important time to sleep is between 4am - 6am. That is when you will sleep deeply. In battle, that's is when you attack an enemy.

If you sleep past the time the sun rises, you may want your room to be dark so that your body will think that it is still ok to sleep.

uh uh.. It doesn't matter what time you sleep, what matters is that you get 8 hours of sleep everyday. Lack of sleep causes poor concentration and absent-mindedness. Too much sleep is bad too, it'll make you sluggish, stubborn and fat! so just make it a point to snooze just enough, at least 8 hours.

I think it just depends on when you wake up, if you wake up early u get less good sleep and if u wake up later you get a reasonable nights sleep.

the body has it's own sensors for rest needs.Generally sleeping at night as opposed to the day is easier.Ask any shift worker who is honest.
