The problem that you seem to be having is between the ego and spirit. This is the source of the confusion you feel. Ego or the confused sense of self wants to be in charge because it mistakenly thinks that it is you. The truth of you is spirit. You are spirit having a human experience. Ego fears this because it is no more than a by product of brain function and dies with the body.
You do not. You as spirit are eternal and move on to bigger and better things after the death of the body. Thus leaving the ego frightened and a bit jealous.
This is the source of the random fearful feelings that seem to come out of nowhere occasionally. The ones that you can't quite place the source of.
