Have you met this guy?, before you make your decision, you have to think about it, I don't think nobody could answer that apart from you, being ill is not an excuse for not keeping in touch not unless he is critical which i hope not, but you really have to think about this cause if you go out there and you found out something else like he is really not ill and just making an excuse not to communicate with you then it would be really disappointing.

I had this issue a few weeks back- although my partner wasnt on the other side of the worldb but was a 3 hour drive away- I thought it was a good thing to just turn up on his door step but in retrospect, it probably wasnt the thing to do.
Have met this guy? Do you want to spend out to go over to the USA? If he was already your partner and he got Ill I would say yes but not if you dont know the guy,

That could well be a bad idea!
Are you sure that he's actually ill and hasn't just decided to end things?
Why would being ill stop him from being in touch? Are you 100% sure that you wouldn't get to America and find him perfectly fine, but just wanting to break up?

Do you know for sure he is ill?
The last thing you want to do is walk in on him with someone else / find he's been with someone else etc..
Personally I wouldnt - but then I am not you!!
Do whatever is in your heart to do - but be wary of what could happen - could be happily ever after, but it might not be.
I'd send a nice letter / email wishing him well, and hoping he gets better soon, and leave it at that till he recovers

Unless he has invited you, or said it was okay to go, don't! He may be sick indeed and really appreciate you coming to see him, but... On the other hand = What if he isn't really sick and you were not invited? Walk in on him with someone else? Two sides of every coin...
Wife & I met online and she came to see me here --- but we planned it = Maybe a little hasty but I was expecting her :-)
Still YOU have to decide for yourself & live with your decision

listen to both your heart and head and come to a sensible decision on your own. If its a realistic choice i'd maybe say, we only live once and can be better to regret something you did than something you didn't. Go with your gut instinct. Only you will know that. x

depend on wethher youve actually met this guy before. if u know him already i shouldnt see a problem. if u dont, id be a bit weary personally. u havent really givin that much info.
