I was stage two because the cancer had not reached my lymph nodes yet but it was a large tumor. The cancer in you must have reached the lymph nodes for you to be stage three. Yet, it has not reached the blood stream or anywhere else or you would be stage 4, so that is good news. The oncologist will give you chemo, most likely A-C-T for 4 months and then follow up with radiation unless you have a mastectomy which is probably what the surgeon will recommend. If your estrogen positive, which I am not, you will be given a drug to keep your hormones from feeding cancer cells. IF you need to email me to chat, please feel free to do so. You should join a support group. I know at first they may seem frightening, but I belong to two and have made some wonderful friends and I am so glad I joined them. Good luck to you. I am sure you will be fine. Take care!

Stage 3 would mean a large mass in breast with positive nodes and no metastasis. Again it depends on the type of cancer and the treatment given. Usually it would require mastectomy follwed by radiotherapy and possibly chemotherapy - and then follow up and estrogen receptor blockers. remember one thing - no cancer is CURABLE - 5 year survival is about 75% for stage III.
