Yes. I was at the very last Military tattoo in London, and I've worked at the Royal international Air tattoo a few years ago. tattoo's are parades and demonstrations of prowess and abilities and skills. I'll bet the ignorant ones here assume you mean tattoo's people in the military get to indicate what squad they belong to. It's an understandable mistake, if you're not aware of the tattoo's you mean, but you really should be aware of them really.

They're great fun. I love the last military tattoo at london, saw the entire thing!

Sgt B, how about:
Nincompoop
Nonce
Blithering idiot.

The 2006 Edinburgh Military Tattoo celebrates over 50 years of music and spectacle set against the world famous backdrop of Edinburgh Castle.

Many straight-edgers tattoo slogans of their beliefs on their bodies.
This signifies the commitment they have made to those ideals, which
like the tattoos are a lifetime commitment.

I have always just heard of tattoo as skin ink....

I do have to say though reading you comments on the last page made me laugh. UK people talk a lot different then Americans, for instance you used words like half-wit and bloody....Man that just cracks me up. Do you have anymore words like that.

I think its just a culture barrier that you are hitting. Yes I would recommend trying to another site...

As per my knowledge the military tattoo is for weapons or made on goat leather or such things. Skin tattoo was fashion in India about 1000 years back nowadays it is a fashion in western countries. Removable tattooo and printed tatto is also available. Once you tattoo by needle on your skin it is not possible to remove it. If anybody knows more on this subject please inform.

I think the pain barrier is the same but being me I'd go for the skin tattoo at least I can only kill my self and not hundreds of people in a mindless war.

I know the difference. It is amazing how ignorant people are but not only that they don't read the question properly!

You think people would know what a military tattoo is seeing as at least one is televised every year!

One would probably have to be (or been) IN the military to know about tattoos (the ones you are talking about). And, it's actually a pretty old term anyway (except maybe in the UK). Anyway, what do you want to know about them? Other than that they are a military drill function.

Tattoo means to decorate the skin with ink. Tattoo also means to tap out a rhythm.

OK...Do you know the difference between...?
A question and a rhetorical question? If yes, keep the answer for yourself, since this, just like yours, is a rhetorical question and I don't really need an answer and I am just faking being smart. Just like you, neh?
