Apparantly...

- we are the tools of Satan
- we are evil
- we are immoral
- we don't give a f*** about anything
- we have nothing to live for, our life has no point
- we hate religion
- we are bad people (worse than gang bangers even according to some)
- we are blind and waiting to be be "saved" or we are still searching for something
- because we are still searching for something they think we will "see the light" if they shove some religious stuff down our throats

1. That we are all anti-religion (plenty are, but most aren't)
2. That we are rejecting God (rather than simply not believing in a god)
3. That we are angry with God (how can you be angry at something you don't think exists?)
4. That we are untrustworthy or immoral
5. That we are communists (we may lean liberal as a group, but this is just ridiculous)
6. That we run the public school system (aimed at secular humanists mostly, but honestly, we only wish we had that kind of power ^_^)

There are others, but I'm too sleep-deprived to think of any more at the moment.

1 - That we have neither values nor ethics (we define our own set of values rather than copy/paste "holy" texts)

2 - That we prefer to oppose against the established religions (we just have our own opinion about the genesis of live or the existence of God which is different)

3 - That we are misperceived outside US and the Middle East (in Europe and most Asian countries, we are not)

People sometimes think that we are somehow amoral or unethical because we don't believe in their invisible sky-fairy.

I often hear us being accused of somehow "secretly believing". The only thing that tells me is that our accusors have no imagination. Stunningly....no! We really don't believe.

Some people somehow assume that all we have to do is hear bits and pieces of the Bible quoted at us and we'll magically see the light. No...we just get bored and roll our eyes.

Some assume that we want the total destruction of religions...and presumably including the followers of those religions. We don't. Keep your beliefs. At home. In your church. Not in the halls of law or science.

If someone wants to believe in some kind of mysticism...fine. Don't demand that I or everyone else buy into it.

That atheists like me are immoral. If being "moral" is only to get into 'heaven", then you might as well have no morals at all. Morals from atheists come directly from care, kindness and empathy.

I can only speak for American society.

1. That deep down, they want to be converted to Christianity.
2. That they're immoral and evil people (because they don't believe in God).

That we need religion to live healthy, wholesome, and moral lives - and that we desparately yearn for someone to impose their irrationality on us to make us "whole".
