It's a place with lots of Japanese people who basically adore branded goods, electronic gadgets (even their dogs are gadgets), noodles vending machines, drinks vending machines, snacks vending machines, used panties vending machines, plastic surgery, Japanese anime, dressing up as some freaking weirdoes on Sundays, sushi and more raw food, kimonos, sumo wrestlers, samurai warriors, geishas, departmental stores, cultural festivals, sakura flowers, karaoke singing, sake wine, Japanese Buddhism, Japanese Imperial family, high standards of living...the list goes on. Oh, by the way, they were also allies with the Germans during the World War Two and the Japanese kids don't know much about WWII history except that they were victims of two nuclear bombs.

^Jack, that's a very general statement and I strongly disagree with what you just stated. I am Japanese and to be honest, I get along better with non-japanese people for reasons that I don't know of. =P
To the one who posted the question, if you want to know about Japan, well, there are TONS of books and sites about the said country. If you want to learn about it in an unconventional way, then go date a japanese person. =P You'll not only learn about the language, but you'll also get free lessons about the japanese culture, food, and the language. ^_~
Oh, and just to give you free facts, keep the following in mind ALL THE TIME:
1. Japan doesn't have vending machines that sells USED underwear. People who are strongly fond of anime think that Japan in cartoons is the same as the real Japan. >_<
2. Just because a girl is japanese doesn't mean that she's a moaner in bed and likes to have a gaijin (foreigner) husband. =P
And lastly,
3. Japanese people take a bath DAILY. So we're squeaky-clean. Don't believe the rumors. =P

Japan is very racist. They don't like anyone who is not Japanese. They especially don't like blacks.
Everyone glows about how "healthy" Japanese are, because they eat fish and seaweed and stuff. But Japan has one of the highest suicide rates in the world.

Japan is a place found at Eastern part of Asia.They speak their own language called NIHONGO. They are very decent and respectiful people.Their favorite food is SUSHI and SASHIMI.

i lived there for 5 years what are you wanting to know?
no no no, i just read the other answers and heck yeah there are underwear machines!! go to hachinohe south of misawa, they are all over. and heck yeah 98 percent of the girls yelp in bed like a box of puppies!!! the shower thing yeah they are normal, its just their teeth you have to watch out for.
