I gradually replaced the formula with milk so i started off with say 7 fl oz of formula and then gave him 6 fl oz of formula with 1 fl oz of milk. Then 5fl oz of formula with 2 fl oz of milk and so on.

Bear in mind that the aim is to get your child to have a good amount of calcium so if he still won't take milk after trying this then get the calcium from other dairy products - yoghurts, cheese etc.

Good luck!!

No, it's not that late for the kid to be on formula. Don't worry about that.

I agree with the other posters -- mix whole milk and formula and gradually change the proportion until it's all whole milk. For example, the first few days it's 25% milk and 75% formula, then go to 50-50, etc. Worked for my son.

Oh, and please stop with the hot chocolate or chocolate milk. Continuing on formula would be better than those options.

Just to re-assure you, 13 months is fine to start using cows milk. Anytime from 12 months is fine although its also OK to keep with formula as long as its a follow on milk until the age of 2. If you are determind to stop the formula now, then try stopping it altogether and only offering cows milk. Do you warm it slightly? That makes it easier for them to digest. You could also try goats milk.

A very old but effective trick is continue with the formula, but start by giving 1 ounce less, replacing it with an ounce of cow's milk. Do this gradually, changing an ounce every 3-4 days so that the change is not too noticeable to your wee one.

Keep on the formula and gradually replace / dilute with cows milk and Farlie's Rusk as baby progresses onto solids.
My daughter would not take formula and was reared on cows milk with varying amounts of rusk as she progressed to solids. She's 32 now

did you try regular chocolate milk? I know thats not the most healthy but you can mix that with reg milk. You can also maybe try soy milk. He won't drink it at all? Ive never had that problem with either of my kids so Im just guessing here. What did your Dr say? Good Luck :)

You need to ween him slowly...replace part of the formula with milk and gradually add more and more milk until he's used to it...worked for mine. Good luck

mix part of the formula with milk and gradually add more and more milk until he's used to it. my daughter (13 months) won't drink milk from her sippy cup only from her bottle (she still thinks its formula if its in her bottle). Another thing if you are worried about him getting enough calcium is to give him orange juice with calcium. it doesn't have to have be milk that gives them their calcium as long as he gets it.

Just keep trying with whole milk. maybe half formula and half milk and gradually mix more milk until that is all that's left.
