My son also have epilepsy. He started having seizures when he was three months but they were only starring spells. It wasn't until recently that his seizures has gotten worst and he was diagnosed with epilepsy. He has forgotten how to read, but he talks very well. He is seven years old now. Have you talked to your son neurologist? It might take time for him to talk. He might not be ready.

you have to take him to a child psychiatrist, who would examine him, and prescribe medication ,and treatment. it's not mentioned, how old is your son now. if he is autistic, his i.q. will not grow with age. there are special schools for these children, where they will try and train him, atleast in the day-to-day simple chores, like brushing teeth, tying shoe lace, eating on his own, etc. if he is too small yet, you have to care for him, no alternative. but the consultation is a must. epilepsy should not recur. was it a forceps delivery? or did he have high fever, when an infant ?
in any case, it's ireversible now. so be mentally prepared to deal. when he is 3 years, plan for another baby, so your life will be full of some joy of having another child, who will be normal.
